Default can't getThird age 2.1 for medieval 2 total war kingdoms to work

so i have ripped my hair out and to install kingdoms and everything
and my files are a huge mess.. But i can now start any of the expansion campaigns and the original from my steam medieval 2

now i try clicking the third age icon and it says can't find kingdoms. exe
it doesn't give me an option to browse and find the file for i know where it is. I searched the web and it says to put third age in the mod folder as americas. I do that and it starts!!!!!!!!!!! my heart leaps with joy only to find moments later the game just crashes.......

    help.........

also, i have around 30 GB of Medieval II total war, on my computer so i might uninstall and delete everything and then reinstall again, maybe.....

Come on guys i have deleted all Medieval II things on my computer, (except my saves) and now im wating for step by step instructions

I have medieval total war on steam so i will commence downloading that. And after i will install kingdoms question should i add kingdoms as a non steam game to steam?

    1. Vista or Win 7, disable the UAC.
    2. Install is where Steam wants it.
    3. If Kingdoms is also Steam, it downloads patched. If not you have other problems.

    As written on that page:
Run the program and you'll see the mods currently loadable through the launcher. You can add/remove/edit the mods available as well you can re-order the mods. The launcher seems to look for mods to be in a mods/XXX folder where XXX is the mod name.

other things i've tried, i have searched the web and a wide spread suggestion is to rename third age a americas i did and it worked i see the loading screen and im liek this can't be real and surely it wasn't the game just crashed.........

other i try to just click the icon it says cannot find kingdoms .exe well i found it although it just had the little blue helmet icon and it was called kingdoms i press it, it starts loading medieval 2 and it crashes and says "medieval 2"

Have you installed the Kingdoms 1.05 patch? http://help.sega.com/index.php?_m=do...215&nav=0,1,19
I don't believe Third Age works without it.

1.05 isn't necessary though it doesn't hurt to have it either.

    Basically the step-by-step instructions are:

    -Install Medieval 2
-Install Kingdoms (just one campaign is enough, doesn't matter which)
-Install TATW, it has a straightforward installer
    -Play

It's that simple. Since Kingdoms isn't on steam there should be no problems, I really don't think M2 being on steam would cause trouble here.

Also make sure tatw's install path is correct: "\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age"

The default install path is C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War

Do not attempt to install it in the mods folder. It will create this folder during install.

    - open windows explorer and browse to the mod folder of M2TW (C:\...\Medieval II Total War\mods)
    - right click your desktop icon of TATW, choose properties
    - click on 'open file location'
    - cut\paste the 'Third_Age' folder from it's current location to the mod folder
    - note down the new path for the TATW.bat file and change it accordingly in your desktop icon's properties (Target, Start in) and click apply.
    - Enjoy the game

In a word, yes. That would be the best solution. Also read carefully the install instructions in the thread by Legolose.
