WIP of a new Wiki banner for Mak. Still need to figure out what I want to do for the border.



WIP of a youtube thumbnail for someone. Ignore that the flag is red, still not sure what color the customer wants. Also still need to add the text, though I'm not sure what the text will be yet.

Someone requested I make a tutorial for how I make fire effects, so here we go.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 

Select a starting image with a suitably dark background. Fire doesn't show up all that well in daytime or against light surfaces, so keep that in mind.

This is what I'm going to be starting with.

To start with, you'll need to find a nice high quality image of fire, preferably against a dark or black background. This is the one I'm going to be using.

Once you've got that open, select the "Magic Wand" tool and make sure anti-alias is checked and contiguous is unchecked. Your tolerance should probably be between 20-35%.

Once that is done, click somewhere in the black...

...and press delete.

Now, duplicate this layer over to the the starting image.

Duplicate the layer immediately and turn one of them invisible.

Select a smudge brush with settings similar to the ones shown below.

You should now have something looking pretty similar to this,

Once you've done that, re-enable the other layer and we should have something looking a little like this,

We're almost done now. The next step is to set both layers to "lighten" and reduce the opacity of the smudged layer to 75-85%.

Then, using an eraser with 25% opacity and 0% hardness erase around the smudge layer until you're satisfied with the appearance. The final result should look like this.

About the wiki banner for Mak, I would suggest that you don't use a mirrored duplicate of the same model but a model viewed from the other side.

I don't have any ready good quality cavalry models.
But you could install GISandy's models and take a screenshot from the game yourself.

I'll compile a package with what I've got on Sunday, I am way too busy for today and tomorrow.
