A mod, new to the TWC, is here! Some of you may have heard of it, most may have not. It is christened Lord of the Rings: Total War. It could be considered the precursor to this mod as it is the TATW of Rome Total War. After 4 1/2 years of development, they have decided to move past their own little forum and host their glorious mod here. Now, before you bash me about being a troll or a spammer, hear me out. This mod has had a lot of time and effort put into it. Not only did this mod make many break-throughs in R:TW (such as custom cities and somewhat workable flying and hero units), it is also one of the best mods you can find. Not only are there custom cities in the campaign, but you can play them in custom battles as well! You can even have Sauron lead your armies into Orthanc and crush all in your path.
It is centered around the movies and they have a campaign with the fellowship implemented into the main campaign and you can choose whether or not to play along with it. And the Fellowship is an actual Fellowship with single-man units in the campaign, no matter what unit size your game is set to. I am not bashing the Fellowship campaign in TATW, as I think it's magnificent, I'm just saying that if you like the Fellowship campaign in TATW, you'll like it in LOTR:TW. It also contains an immortal Sauron and all nine (also immortal) Nazguls. They don't die by age and they respawn with all of their traits and ancillaries when they die in battle. But if the Ring reaches Mount Doom, Mordor will fall and all of the other nations will continue life without them.
Again, I am most defenitely not bashing this mod in any shape or form, but I am hoping that the two mods, despite being on different platforms, can work together and bring the glory that is Lord of the Rings to the TWC. This mod is one of my favorites and I hope it contiunes all of it's wonderful and glorious work.
You can find a link here.
And before I get your hopes up, it is for Alexander Total War, not vanilla Rome or BI. However, if you have $10 to spare, you should defenitely pick up a copy.
