    Default Cavalry charges

Hello, i really love your mod guys. I think its the very best for mtw2 i just have one question for the new version are u guys taking care of the cavalry charges, and the durability of the family members bodyguards? Sometimes ive seen groups of heavy spearmen destroyed by a couple of family members and well specially when my cavalry is charging at them some times they just won't die, and im talking about a heavy cavalry charge on them. I know its not your fault guys and im not trying to sound rude or anything i would just like to know if something is going to be done for that, thanks for your time in advance.

Generally elite lancers will trample any infantry in a charge... however they are not nearly as effective against heavy spearmen (in a frontal charge). This is intentional to give the poor spearmen a chance! Ofc if you charge them from the rear you will devastate them

Quality spearmen should resist heavy cavalry well; that's how the system is set up.

The best tool against heavy bodyguards is armour-piercing weapons. Spears will hold out, but often have trouble dealing damage through the heavy armour. Your best tools are quality mace/axe infantry and lancers; though don't let the macemen/axemen get hit by a cavalry charge.

Same old question going around for years from the time of Old Medieval I in the official TW forums. I don't know how much cavalry charges were effective in real battles but try the new 3.0 system of gamegeek and you will see the issue has been carefully balanced now

In 2.02 it was spectacular and funny but not too much realistic, I wiped out the entire Ani garrison (some 1,500 guys or so) with Prince Alexius and a unit of Kathaphraktoi (80 men) all through cavalry charges.

Zaale, how are the new cavalry working out for you, in terms of battle effectiveness?

So long I experienced hippotoxotai, Stratatoi, Kataphraktoi and byzantine bodyguards only.

The 2.02 devastating charges are gone but cavalry does a lot better in melée, specially Katas

I still do some devastating charges with Katas and Bodyguards, I charged an entire unit of meneulatoi on the flank with 50 Katas and killed half of them.

Attacks from the rear are not as devastating as before due to increased morale for all troops, you must choose carefully the breaking point.

Horse archers, I noticed the AI shoot less and engage in melée with them earlier, still don't know the effects in terms of balance for the factions based on Horse Archery, so long all the factions are still expanding on rebel towns.

Cavalry against cavalry hmmmmmm got some fierce melées, just noticed my stratatioi cavalry doesn't roll over enemy horse archers as before. Need some more experience to get an opinion.

All in all cavalry now remember me the dynamics from Medieval I, more realistic, less spectacular.

Oh and by the way, there's some problem with Katas and their javelins, yesterday I saw that once they run out of javelins they still got the javelin instead of the sword as primary attack, dunno why.

Katas in BC 2.02 and the 3.0 system don't have a sword or mace.
