Icon4 One Balance To Rule Them All Sub-Mod

What the hell is this you ask?

This is a multi-function mod that serves many purposes for the Third Age: Total War game! It is currently in the development stage. We are adding our content, and collecting content from sources that want to participate.

ONE BALANCE TO RULE THEM ALL WILL INCLUDE:
    (In one simple installer)

    UNIT BALANCING AND UPDATING
This lengthly process involves going through each and every unit this game has to offer and analyzing wether or not their general stats preserve the lore of that unit. Many units have been totally revamped, with added, subtracted and replaced abilities, stats and/or descriptions basically EVERYTHING.
No one faction rules this game and we have made sure that certain factions are balanced correctly to give a better gaming experience. Do not be mistaken, as this does not mean in any way shape or form that this will make the game go into "easy mode". This mods solely has been to bring the units made by the TA team closer to the actual lore of the books. This also does not mean that hours of hard work resulted in the units being "nurfed" either so do not fret! This particular mods secondary purpose is to bring a richer feel to the units of TA and give many units the TLC and attention they have truthfully deserved! Many screen shots will come in time my preciousesss!!

    CASTLE AND CITY MOD
This mod will modify the mechanics of castle barracks, stables, and city equivalents and goes along with the unit balancing mod.
This basically concerns the implementation of the new units that will be added to the game and the existing unit's replenishment and recruit pools etc. This mod also slightly alters castle and city population upgrades to give the game a better flow of upgrades. The games castles and villages mainly see the majority of upgrade changes and all recruitment stations (barracks, city watch etc) will see a difference in unit replenishment and pools for the most part.

Units from Ozz'z amazing mod which includes the elusive Khrone Champions, Dark Rangers, Morannon Swordsmen more, than likely the Pygmy Mumakil,
Dwarven Marauders, Avari Elven Nobels, TOO much to list!

    SpankyJenkins' Mercenaries of Middle Earth.
This is the be all end all of Merc mods and we plan to work with Spank to help it grow until it explodes into rainbows!

Brevi's fabulous work that i have come not love and not live without!

Dea Paladins AMAZING work that is currently being implemented as we speak.

    Permissions pending

Did you even have to ask for this one? You can't play the game without this!

    ______________________________________
[Q.] HEY, i only use patch 1.1 cause i'm old school, can you make this compatible for my patch please?

[A.] No. The only level i work on is going to be 2.0 or newer on anything i will be doing scripting/text file-wise. I have taken AUM, and FROME into account for their added units and this mod will not screw up those mods in any way shape or form and are completely compatible.
    _______________________________________
[Q.] What if i only want SOME of the features described in this mod? What about my individual NEEDS?!

[A.] There will be more than one installer provided with the release of V1.0 which will give you some options. For example there will be an installer that does not touch castle and city upgrades or pool/recruitment changes if you are really adamant about those things being the way YOU want them to stay. Another installer will exclude the Mercenaries mod if you don't want that feature and so on and so forth.
    _____________________________________
[Q.] You are being too slow, where the hell is this mod and when is it coming to fruition?!

[A.] I will be posting weekly updates and feedback on progress as i work my way through some of the more complicated stuff but as of the creation of this post this mod is 50% done! The only problem i have is my ever expanding mind and my inability to STOP expanding on everything i plan to create which pushes release dates further.
    ____________________________________
[Q.] Are you like one of those modder types who only mod for yourself, or do you take advice from people who actually have some good ideas?

[A.] I can't tell this community how much i love ideas. I could go on forever about all the stuff i'd love to do and gather a small army of thinkers to help me. I welcome all ideas, suggestions, criticism, barking, yelling and anything along those lines to help me make better or more educated decisions about all of my mods. So yeah bring it on!
    ____________________________________
[Q.] Ummm, do you collaborate with other modders, or plan to in the future? I see these types of mods all the time made by other people so what about them?

[A.] This is a more complicated question and my supreme laziness prevents me from contacting these people and asking if they'd like to join up or exchange ideas. I have seen some of these mods released in the past and some of them bite the dust eventually. But yes i would collaborate with anyone who has a similar vision that i have here to help create a better mod.
    ____________________________________
[Q.] What are your future plans, what do i have to look forward to after this project is complete?

[A.] Well hopefully this mod will never stop growing and evolving based on everyones much needed feedback. But by the time this is all done and i have time to devote to another project i will want to get into making new units for the game and expanding the rosters of existing factions. I also want to add new campaign settlements to the game like evil towns, evil castles, special castles and all that cool stuff.

    SCREEN SHOTS, OH MY!

    DISMOUNTED BLACK NUMENORIANS
The Introduction of a new unit into Mordors roster, this unit will be a very limited resource to use and recruiting multiples of these units will be very hard. Another thing to note here are new abilities and altered abilities of existing units as you can see in the Numenorians "abilities at a glance" portion.

    Inspires nearby troops
    Cuts through armor
    Fights well on uneven terrain
    Extraordinary morale, endurance
    Line breaker

Some of these may look foreign to you and others you can probably figure out that we have just altered them a tad. These are only a few of the altered and new abilities that have been added and are currently being balanced. More on these later of course.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

**All credit for this model goes to the TA team for their fabulous work on it**

    ----------------------------------------------
    FORMATIONS AND OTHER CHANGES
The first thing you should notice here is the formation of these units! We have implemented the "Horde" formation for many of the units of this game to better suit the lore of the units. Other units that use the horde formation will be: most Snagas, some Wildmen units and peasant type units.
Another thing to mention are the stats of course, as pretty much every unit we come across gets a makeover especially if we have added certain bonuses, altered existing abilities or anything else. Balance is always whats in our minds when going through a unit of course.

    URUK-HAI DEATHBRINGERS
Deathbringers make it back into the game and for some of you this will be an interesting new unit to throw at your opponents!

URUK-HAI AXEMEN Added and tweaked these Units from Dea Paladins unit mod and now are ready to go!

Ah, Dismounted Black Numenorians, one of my favorite additions to RC/RR. It brings a single tear to my eye to see it in it's glory yet again. Very nice indeed, keep up the good work.

    Clearly has his priorities straight.

I know Baywatch, i know... But there is so much more to add, i won't be able to live long enough to get it all done i'm afraid. I'd like to eventually add in a new unit for Isengards lacking unit roster: Deathbringers to be more specific... There is just too much other stuff to accomplish though.

Updated with a preview of Uruk-Deathbringers with my own added twists. This unit and many others i will be updating to 2.0 will be comming from Dea Paladin and his hard work MUST be carried on into the future! This is also a shout out to all of you who have seen a unit mod like Dea Paladin's fall behind on updates and would like to see a unit come back to life. Shoot me mail or write me here on the forum and i will take a look and see if i can help, and if so i can proceed with getting the right permissions!

Been watching this and decided to actually join the forums. I have a few questions as to what is actually coming out of this mod...

    1) You say this will be for FROME and Vanilla?
I don't think people actually have a vanilla copy of this game and i believe everyone has at least one mod so why make it for vanilla?
Is is possible to make it for Samedis compliation mod?

    2) Is this mod going to be included into Samedis compilation mod in the future or is this just going to be a stand alone?

    3) I like how you are merging unit mods together, but do you take suggestions on what is included and what should not be?

anyhow good job if i could rep i would keep it up!!!!!

I am personally making those installers and i'm making one for vanilla so that people who don't want to use FROME can use it. Having a vanilla version will help make this mod compatible with other smaller mods out there as well.

We have not thought about Samedi's compilation mod, though he already has AUM included in there and eventually this mod will ask permissions to merge with AUM too. We have decided that we will be merging a lot of the Unit mods into one pack to enrich the players gaming experience, with the castle and merc mod as a secondary addition. The merc mod is nearing completion and the castle mod is completely done! An up date will outline those changes soon.

We always take suggestions though we have not had too many replies on unit mods that need to be picked up. However someone pointed out that Brevi's skin mod has fallen behind and Dea Paladins mod is something we are working on now.
This thread has not gotten too much traffic but that was expected as we don't actually have any files for download. We are just a bunch of university students with hardly any time on our hands to get this stuff done but somehow we find time here and there. To top it off i am the only one who cares about forums so all that work is on me!

I agree with Makrell, Ozz's units are super but he seems to be inactive right now. I hope you get permission to add his units in.
I also see you added Brevi's skins and units which is amazing. I can't play Isengard without his mod!

One last note, where is the love for the GOOD factions, all i see is evil stuff what about Dale or the Dwarves or mmmmm elves...

Yes, no download yet! All three of us are hard at work even though we have a ton of school to get out of the way in the form of midterms this fall. However (I) am personally doing the unit rebalancing and its 70% DONE! I am at a cross roads at whether or not i should add screens of my method of changing the units around.. My notes are pretty crazy looking but are overall pretty uniform so i MAY add that as we go to give you guys the information on every single unit i have made changes to... Which is at least 96% or more.

BETA testing will be a serious part of this mod that i keep forgetting about and people are PMing me about it. We just can't play every faction to see how things will turn out on large scale battles. I know you are wondering "why not just custom battle it?" Well because its just not accurate or typical. We would much rather know right off, if by turn 80 a faction is unnaturally dominating the map. Maybe the merc mod is acting up and you can recruit 10 merc stacks somewhere, maybe the castle mod is making things WAY too easy, who knows. I currently have BAYWATCH and a few others less committed (you know who you are!) as a solid beta tester and need more recruits for the future. I will probably want at least 6 people to do that testing so if you are interested, post here and i will PM you if i have room!

    @Makrell
I would suggest adding Ozz new units as they are AWESOME.
Great mod im looking forward to it
You have NO idea how much i love Ozz's mod and i am dying at the fact that he has not replied to my groveling lmao. I vigilantly await his approval/disapproval

    @Beatfest...

Ton's of love for good factions is coming up soon as of right now i am working on balancing Taro's Additional Gondor units which brings over 50 new models to Gondor and revamps the entire faction. His mod is very interesting because the bulk of the unit additions are regional. This means that you can only recruit them in certain areas of Gondor which makes for delicious balancing!

Gondor will be more feared than ever but just because Gondor has more unit choices doesn't overpower them as their ability to recruit an army, is based on their available funding. Right now i am working on balancing those units to better transition them into the game so it isn't such a shock to the system. Lore-wise Gondor is a pretty large place with many different cultures of people. This lore should be reflected nicely by Taro's additional unit mod by adding area specific units to the game. I am too excited about these changes and i wish i had an abundance of more time to get it done quicker!

I am no modder, simply an avid fan, but i think that someone in the community should consider doing what Taro did for Gondor to Arnor.

I'm looking forward to this mod. I just downloaded TATW and haven't played yet. But the addition of many new units always makes me excited. I found all these submods that include so many new, beautifull units. It frustrated me that I wouldn't be able to use them all. I was thinking about learning everything about adding units and do it myself. But unfortunately I don't have the spare time. So I am thrilled that you guys are doing this for me.
