So there are just so many badass units to choose from so i was wondering who everyone thinks is the best unit.

I think my favourite unit would be the Vardariotai.
They are not too expensive, and are also fast, endurant and have good attack power. They are also well armoured and sufficiently trained to survive in close combat as well. Basically, they have all the things an excellent solider need in this game - speed, agility, stamina, power, good defense, cost efficiency.
The way I see it, they are at least top five of best units in the game, followed closely by Spanish musketeers, Dismounted Boyar Sons, Dismounted Chivalric Knights and Retinue Longbowmen.

For me, Heavy Scots Pike Militia. Low upkeep, easy to spam, and virtually unbeatable if you have a couple units of Feudal Knights to back you up
But then, I suppose I developed a love affair with Phalanx Units back in Rome: Total Realism. Ah, the days of marching out of Bactria all the way to Rome at the head of armies of Kataphraktoi and Pezoi (and the bajillions of auxiliary units as well!)

probably either dismounted noble knights or canons of holy sepulchure!!
My fav? Well, I'd go with the unit that has served me best. Broken Lances. (both mounted and unmounted) They are the backbone of my Northern Italian armies and the foundation I have built a multitude of mighty empires upon. (Though, they'd be nothing without a combined arms approach with good archers (or crossbowmen) and artillery and spears supporting them.![]()
top three:
any spearmen in heavy mail
mailled knights
halberd units, although I don't often play with factions that get them
Gothic knight
dismounted frankish knight
Unhorse knight
Hashashim
Battlefield Assasins

Spear Militia
Peasant Archers
Mounted Sergeants
No. I'm really not kidding.

Dismounted Gothic Knights, of course! They're sooo bad ass lookin' and they pack quite a punch.
Nordic Archers? (Those archers the Danes can train) Not only are they good at range but good up close too.
