Default Changing stats and modifying units

Hi, I would like to change some units stats and availability for my personal use but I don't know how, I'm no modder I hope I don't need a specific program to do it.

Some units I would like to change:
longbowmen units :I would giving them AP, they deserve it for the strength imo
varagian guard: they are strong but making them available in the beginning in the city hall
menouloi pikemen: I want to make them available in the beginning in the latest barrack

for now that is it but I want to know to change these things and do it myself when I want

    Thank you in advance

Yea I saw that one but I just don't really like the fact that he makes the javelin AP again, javelin are strong enough without AP, it's already really easy to kill general bodyguard with them but for the rest of his modification, it's actually good

And about changing units in specific building, I mean, I would like to insert recruitable general bodyguard in castle, the menoloi pikemen of the R. empire recruitable in fortress barrack, recruiting varangian guard in citadel barrack and changing recruitment pool.

If you know to do it Bane I will really appreciate, it's for my personal use and not everybody will like to have these modifications in the general game.

    Thank you in advance

If u want to remove AP from javelin units just open the EDU file(export_descr_unit.txt) and remove ap attribute by no from those units and save it.

As for Recruitable General bodyguards Read this thread in which Bane and I have already answered this in detail.

Just remember to save any file you plan on modding before you change anything. For myself, I create a new folder within the mod folder (or wherever) and copy the default files that I tinker with to. I also make sure to separate the early and late campaign default files.

The Wiki page on TWC modding might be useful as well. Here is the link for it with the EDU (export_descr_unit) file being dissected, which is one of the files you will be tinkering with more often than not. From that page you can link to other stuff that can help you as well.

Thanks Milligon for this page it,s helpful

I've made some modifications and I'm quite proud of it and for now it worked

I've made the longbow units having AP but I decreased their attack for a better balance
I've changed many things in my favorite faction: the roman Empire:
-varangian guard are buffed up and recruitable in mercenary barrack and it takes a while to recruit them since I've made the stats as exceptional troops
-the mercenary barrack can be build at the beginning but with an increased cost and time to build
-the scholarii, siphanotores and the emperor's bodyguard are recruitable in the beginning but for a balance with increased time to have them in the recruit. pool has well decreasing the max number for scholarii by 1. When the event of the th 4 lateran council is happen every troops will have better recruitment
-the menauloi are now recruitable in barrack and are superior late professional
and some other thing I've done so far.

But I want to know how, with the permission of the modders, to export BC units and to redone all the muslims rosters following PB RC stats

How to change text from the units cuz they are still written for varangian guard elite troops but now they are for me exceptional

How to create unique building so I will insert a general office where you can recruit general

How to make a mounted unit has a dismounted unit, I want to do a dismounted pronoarii

Thank you in advance and thanks agains guys for teaching me a little about modding, I want to help you for making a really interesting mod for everyone

    ___________________________________________

Ok I've made some research throughout the forum and I've found nearly everything I need, but I need two things:
1-Do I need permission from modders to take units from a mod to another one, What I want to do is taking BC units and replace units in SS mod with them. Also, I got many tutorials but I'm not really sure about how to take units from BC to SS, if someone could give me a hint, I will appreciate

2-If PB will agreed, I would like to see how he evaluated every units stats, number, quality, etc. and I don't want to spend money for making modding, so anyone could give me where I can download free programs that is a must to modding.

Again, I want to provide for myself and others some things that many people want for a long time and making a really fun game experience

    Thank you in advance

You don't need permission to use units if it's for personal use. If u want to release your mod on TWC then u need Permission from the developers.

export_units.txt file in the text folder.

For creating building Read this guide and just ignore the guild part in it.

If its for personal use (never leaves your harddisk) then you are free to do as you wish. If you intend to release, then you absolutly have to make sure that you have the permission. Note that in the case of the BC units not all of them are available for integration. You need to verify the owner/creator (for example alpha delta) and that you have permission so that you aren't inadvertenly releasing units in your mod that aren't allowed to be used in other mods. Bluntly speaking: Releasing content without permission is the fastest way to get a (sub)mod killed.

Ok thanks for the information and I'll do my own modding and if I'm thinking that it's worth to release it in the forum them I'll ask everyone for their permission It's not so bad to do modding, it thought you have to be cranked in computer to do this
