There's more: because it's crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

Lies. Normal chicken nuggets are made from normal chicken meat. Hell my mother made them quite often.

Mmmmmm! I wholeheartedly agree (which is ironic since chicken nuggets are probably eating away my heart).

I definitely read it, and while conditions were horrendous, part of me wonders how much of it is just plain and pure propaganda to promote socialism, as opposed to simple complete capitalism bashing.

Not that I have anything against socialism, mind you.

The whole purpose of the book was to promote socialism, and in that it was a failure, as soon as you get to the portions of the book where Sinclair starts talking about the benefits of socialism and less about the horrors of the meat packing industry it gets boring. And no one remembers the book as a socialist piece of propaganda, but as a social commentary on working conditions and food preperation that directly led to the Federal FDA.

McDonalds doesn't even make the fries. They come pre-made, and are flash-frozen, I believe. They then dump the fries into a machine to heat them back up.

I never got the whole OMG THIS IS WHAT YOUR FOOD LOOKS LIKE!!!! So just because it's not that nice looking does it make it any worse? I mean obviously fast food is bad, but would it really be better off for your health they didn't make nuggets from the stuff?

I really wanna say that's disgusting, cause it is, but I do enjoy Wendy's chicken nuggets. They taste a helluva lot better than McDonald's anyway.

Coincidentally I was carving up a chicken tonight and thought of this thread.

That 'goo' is for that weird industrial style patty you get or the original chicken nuggets. Its pretty bland and tasteless, quite awful, but its protein.

The problem is that getting the meat off a chicken is a pain, so basically you do a lot of grinding to get all the bits off and hence, you get the toothpaste.

Its also very understandable, it saves a LOT of waste, and undoubtedly allows more people to be fed on the cheap.

Of course I bought two whole uncooked chickens for $10 yesterday, which would buy me about 20? McNuggets, so moral of the story is learn to cook or eat goo.
