It's very... spread out. If you were trying to make travelling times more realistic then it looks good. Will there be more settlements though? As in Gaul and the East there is a Lot of open space... Looks quite good though.

apw2, Thnx m8. Spread out yes maybe one or two more settlements only. With WarMap, I have a ZOR, but this does not suit hordes in BI. So to try and avoid AI turn slowdown and 20 battles every turn, imo less settlements is a must. Although with helpful feedback like yours we can develop this much further.

Travelling times, I will have a movement point/traits enhancement very soon. This will be able to be installed as an optional extra.

    Update v0.2 is available.

Hi Ice, I'm just now trying out the beta and I did notice the Romano British family bodyguards are no longer the British war lords but now are the Graal knights. I like the idea using the Graal knight(it keeps a aura of enchanted mystic) even if not historical. I'm curious if this was intended.? Also is the 1 hit point for the graal knight adequate? I'll try them out vs another factions bodyguard to see. Thanks Ice for this mod and looking forward to playing it

Riothamus, g'day m8 and thanks for your kind words.
Graal knights was not intentional, I'm sure future family members will be normal.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

celt, thanks m8. This map is as big as I could get it. I was originally dissapointed with being limited to only 510 x 337.
It is possible to make it larger, but only by reducing the water tiles and increasing land mass, but of course it no longer resembles Europe then.
So to go more east the scale would have to be reduced.

hmmm I wonder how far I could extend mundus magnus, to Japan maybe.

Very Good work: Just 2 suggestions:
1)For economic balance Italy was with Africa teh richest zone of the West. So 2 provinces more are a need in your map, for example the city_ fortress of Aquileiia was the door of Italy..it cannot be confused with Ravenna province .(CA made that) . The other could be in South Italy.
    2) Mediolanum was the military capital of the West empire so no military structure at Rome but structures at Mediolanum (and Ravenna) and Hidden capital resources at Mediolanum and Ravenna ( Costantinopolis too)
    3) To join your map with the Atilla skin mod is the best thing I can see today in BI mods.

Ettore, Thanks and g'day. I like your suggestions very much,
and will do my best to implement them correctly.
As for the skins I agree it would be a nice enhancement.

Also WarMap tga's are public property and available to any public mod,
so I think maybe there will be quite a few nice versions of this map coming out in the very near future.
Thanks again for such excellent and informative feedback.

p.s. you would'nt happen to have a map showing their locations would you ?

Aquileia has to be in the passage to east :none can enter by east without to enter in Aquileia. (Attila looted it to enter)
In South you can have Croton ( as in RTW mods ) or Naepolis or Capua( they are near on map). You need to decide how divide south Italy: West-East solution or North-South decision (That is Italic zone-Greek zone, for this solution it is better Naepolis or Capua).

Ice, I noticed with the land bridges the Berbers are invading successfully into Spain. It's reminiscent to a pre moor invasion. The Berbers under the control of the AI previously would expand a bit in Africa and then get crushed by ere or the Sassanids. Also the Western Roman Empire is getting carved up by the roman rebels and barbarian tribes. It's my first successful campaign ( now 60 turns) with the beta and Europe looks like it did in actual history, but maybe at somewhat an earlier date . I'm playing as the Romano British with Attila's skins and no ctd. I had to repel a small roman rebel army from London that crossed the channel land bridge so the land bridges are being utilized. In a previous campaign as The Romano British, The western Romans sent a full stack across the channel and crushed me.lol. The land bridges enhances the game and makes the AI to be weary of. I increased unit movements through the descr character txt starting points....it seemed a simple way of doing it. Awesome mod Ice. It runs smooth. I'm trying to see if I compromised the openness of the map by increasing unit movements but I don't think so. Maybe another city in Ireland and another in SE. England would be cool but that's just a personal preference on my part. Thanks for this great mod Ice. I'm looking foward to any new developments

Riothamus, Thanks for such detailed feedback, it's much appreciated. and yes I like the land bridges for they also reduce micro-managemanet, put ship in strait, embark disembark continue journey.
But good news for those who don't like land bridges. I have a land bridge removal patch completed and will be availabe soon as an optional install.
Default install will keep land bridges.
Note* This Land bridge removal patch is compatible with all three WarMap versions.

Enhanced Movement points/traits is an optional extra in The above BI-WarMap-beta v0.3. I think they are necessary for the large map.
Two more settlements in Briton, sure why not. Has anyone else got some feedback regarding settlement numbers ?
I have added Ettore's suggested settlements to Italy so it's kinda full now.

Beta v0.4 should be up within a few hours.

Unit stats are untouched. The changes made to WarMap were developed over a 6 month period.
As I am unfamiliar with BI gameplay I won't be touching them............yet.

Ice did you chage the units stats for this one too ? or it's just normal BI stats?

    Default Strategic setup?

Technically the beta BI warmap looks great, installed the land bridge remover no problems, pleased with the general province layout etc. My concerns are with the distribution of territories. I'm no historian, so I may just be showing my ignorance.

-Sassanids are described as a native Persina dynasty, so why don't they control Persepolis? Likewise, they make heavy use of Bactrian camels and Sughdian infantry, so shouldn't their empire extend through Bactria and Soghdia? I know Darius's Persian empire extended that far when Alexander took it from him.
-Why are the Slavs so far from what I am used to thinking of as Slavic territory? Did they migrate and I never knew about it?
-I like seeing the Celts already on the map instead of being emergent, but the Romano-British I really prefer to keep as an emergent faction. As you have it, there's a possiblity of the RB and the WRE going to war, which makes no sense to me from their faction descriptions.
-I'd also like to see the Ostrogoths remain an emergent faction from the Goths. Giving them the original Gothic homelands seems a stretch.
-Speaking of original homelands, many of the barbarian factions supposedly went horde as a result of the Huns and other steppe peoples displacing them. I'd rather see this modeled in game, even if it means pushing the start date back a bit. Give the Huns et al big starting hordes and everyone else their native lands.

Pode. g'day m8. You bring up some interesting points. I'll try to answer them all. but first let me say this beta is far from a final release.

Sassanids, I agree with what you are saying, but the reason they don't start with all of their Empire, is I thought it may unbalance the game too much. and they might over run the map fairly quickly.
For my own personal version I think I will allocate all provinces to their respective owners. similar to WarMap's setup.

Slavs, It is my understanding they are descended from an indo-iranian people, but in the time frame BI is in yes they are out of position as the hordes forced them westward. and where they are now the hordes have already passed them.
but as the BI-beta evolves they will be placed in a more historical position.

Romano brits, For me I was thinking of having the game start a little later, and giving them all of Sth Briton.
But I'm sure a lot of people would like to see them and the Ostrogoths as an emergent faction, so I will probably have
These as an optional install. As I am planning to do with East and West rebels.

Original homelands, Massive hordes, I like your idea, and will certainly try to implement them. Just keep me updated with the next versions to see if i'm on the right track.

Default What with mountains in england?

draknar, hi m8. Yeah they look cool ay. Actually wait till you hit the Swiss alps they are big. and you will see the mountains in Scotland are actually quite small in comparison.
Also I am doing this mod by myself, when I get the chance I will add the cosmetic Radar_maps and descriptions.

EDIT: On second thoughts you're right they're gone. Low mountains only.

I just wanted to say thanks Ice for giving us this HUGE map. In fact, it finally have the size i was hoping to have when i buyed the game but i have found few things in my little RB campaign.

1-The port in Germania Inferior didn't appear on the map but you still have all these littles boats incoming, a bit weird. I moved the port to the SW and now, port appear on the map.
2-It miss a river passe in the Scallabis region to be able to connect the port to the town.
3-Need to move down the border of the Svealand or remove a bit of forest to the north, like that Sviones and Varjager regions will be able to trade with each others.
4-Maybe im wrong but it miss a mountain on each side of the Strait of Gibraltar.
5-Need 2-3 provinces in the Asia Minor to increase the trade in that area.

Default because one thank you is never enough...

Just recently downloaded your map, after having adquired the Bi expansion I must admit I was somewhat dissapointed at the map/province size. However after downloading your expansion just as Scorpion said, I now have the map I hoped for when I first got the game. You obviously put a lot of your hard work into this so a billion thanks for making my playing experience more enjoyable. And one damn you to hell for keeping me addicted to rtw for many more hours
