    Default Some Questions about RTR

Hello i am actually playing my first campaign as numidians in rtr 6.2, now i have some questions about that:

    1. does the battle difficulty settings have the same effect like in rtw +4 morale and attack etc?

    2. why do enemy armies rout so fast? i searched the descrunit.txt but the units have very high mental stats, higher than i modded them myself in rtw. but the units rout faster than in my modded version (i had mental 16-18 and now units have 20+) how can it be?

    3. elite cavalry stables dont have any advantage to my numidians, bug?

    4. why can i recruit gallic mercs in africa?

    5. is rome able to invade africa like the scipii?

    6. royal palace doesnt let me build units with 4 experience like it is said in the description, why?

    7. is it possible to turn off the automatic formation thing? example : if i select 3 archer troops and place em in a line one of em is placed beyond them, really annoying

ok, thats it for now oh and it would be cool to make a "bridge" between north africa and spain like.

I tried asking many of the same questions when I started on RTR a short while ago - unfortunately the oldies can't be bothered to answer...

I'll give it a try, though I'm a newbie myself, and can't answer all your questions.

    1. dunno sorry, but I believe it was fixed.

    2. I haven't noticed quick routs playing on normal. Actually they seem to stay around longer than usual in my experience.

    3. I find the whole Zone-of-recruitment system to be a good idea, but massively confusing. Maybe in some areas you will get an effect? Not sure though.

    4. Dunno about the gauls in africa - seems like a bug to me.

    5. I have seen rome prosper, but I haven't seen them in africa yet. I believe they can though since this is 1.2-based. (in 1.3 they never invade unless you save-reload every turn).

    6. the 4-exp thing is related only to rebels I believe - rather confusing though.

    7. Your problems are caused by Darths formation. They can be removed, but I don't know how. You'll get used to it though. Remember if you put units in a formation and group them they'll stay in that formation.

hope this helps a bit - looking forward to seeing replies from more knowledgeable RTR-gamers.

    1. Difficulty settings are hadcoded, so there is no difference there between RTR and RTW. Note that I *think* Battle difficulty is only bugged in custom battles, but work fine for campaign. Not too sure about this, though, as it's all second-hand info.

    2. Seem to be working fine for me, they actually stay in combat for much longer than in Vanilla. Perhaps their general had some negative morale traits?

    3. You need an elite cavalry stable to build high-end elephants. There are no other benefits as far as I can see.

    4. Because Carthage used Gallic mercs in their armies. I don't know where exactly they got their mercs from (specifically), but it's possible that they got mercs shipped down from Gaul - so, since they don't actually invade Gaul (very often), this is represented by Gauls being available in northern Africa. It just represents mercs from Gaul being called down for service in Africa.

    5. Not under normal circumstances, unfortunately. You can coax them into doing it by adding Land Bridges - see the TWC modding forum to find out how to do it. The RTR forum also had a topic about it at one stage, you can check that out, too.

    6. Probably a bug.

    7. Yes. There are two things you could do: get the descr_formations.txt file from Vanilla RTW and overwrite the RTR version with it (note: this does not affect DarthFormations, as it uses a different file for the AI), or you could download Marcus Camillius' Player Formations Mod in the downloads section of TWC (I think it's there - check the RTR modding forum for more details). You'll have to group your archers and hit Shift+2 for them to be arranged in a straight line with the latter, though.

    Hope that helps.

ah okay thanks for the answers! maybe they should have wrote it in the description then, its really irritating. its not very often that rebels conquer my cities...

what to you mean with "high-end elephants" ? i am able to build african and towered elephants with the standard stables so there is NO use for elite stables as numidians, maybe carthage too i dont know but it should be removed from numidian building list then.

and i found another thing, does anybody know why slingers have the arrow firing sound effect?
