I hope this hasn't been posted anywhere before, but a quick search turned out no result. This is a nice little toy - for fun - analyzing your writing and telling you which author your writing style is closest to:

My writing turned out to be similar to that of Edgar Allan Poe. That's nice - and it was a characterization of a character for a roleplaying game

    Have fun.
I read this so called Bible, and found it to be a third rate story in which this so called 'jesus' is nothing more than a shameless lampooning of Brian, which has inspired joy and laughter in millions.

Yeah, it was developed for fun by a russian, but it's not entirely stupid or nonsense, from what I've read about it.

It's interesting to copy-paste some passages from works of known authors and see if they really write like themselves, or like someone else.

Analyzed about three paragraphs from an old A/S level English essay - apparently I write like H.P. Lovecraft! Yaye!

Edit: Nope, I pasted the rest of the essay and I write like J.D. Salinger now

    H.P. Lovecraft apparently.

Based upon two separate Historical essays and part of my dissertation. Ah well time to poke around that old abandoned church nearby, there's been some odd lights coming from the main spire at night.

Very interesting, I analysed three of my Short Tolkien Fan Fics (See my sig) and got J.K. Rowling twice and finally Tolkien himself! Nice that it recognised that I was trying to do his style. I'm gonna have to reread a Harry Potter book because I don't remember anything sounding like what I wrote in the first two...

    Cory Doctorow.

Eh, well, I guess I'll go and read his works and see what his style is. I know mine. It's right here in front of me. I have a hard time emulating talented writers.

It was a blog post though.

so very utilitarian. I couldn't scrounge up any of my works of fiction because this is a new computer and I haven't transferred data yet.

This post got me, "Kurt Vonnegut"

    Both pretty cool guys.

It seems my result is James Fenimore Cooper. He wrote The Last of the Mohicans, nice. The text, in case you're curious, is from an English essay that I've done and submitted just yesterday.
