When does everyone decide to war?

When does everyone decide to war? I am not getting impatient I just wanted to see know. I am the English late era campaign and well I have declared war on the French taken Caen. However French have just allied all in Europe same with the Papal States. If anyone could give me a rough estimation on when the destruction starts then thank you.

I war when it's to my advantage, and if it looks like it's going to be fun. I look at, do I really want to fight a full scale war with my current unit roster?..or I do I want to wait a bit until the better units show up?...That's the point I am at now playing the HRE..It's in the early 1200s and their great units show up in the 1300s, however my eastern border is being threatened by the pagan liths and the orthodox roman empire..So I may have to go to war earlier than I want...

Good point, looks like so much alliances in my campaign xD Just Venice and France and of course the pope allying all, I think the Scots are going to attack me soon.

In my early era english campaign I pretty much started war on the Scots right away. Unifiying the british isles is a big no brainer for me, and it fits RP-wise for me. Currently on turn 45 and I just finished unifying all of britain and elimanating the scots entirely.

Hmm, surprisingly, I'm also using Gracul (most aggressive) and oddly all of Europe is allying with one another in a huge alliance bloc. And in some cases, even Muslim and Orthdox nations get alliances (muslim with Papal States, Kievan Rus with HRE).

I'm convinced that everyone's ships will be lining up to blockade all my ports any moment now. (My reputation is shot thanks to all the people at war with me).

I play Gracul AI (haven't played much yet), but most of time it's like this:

Europe falls into chaos, three of four blocks fight eachother but neither is strong enough to take control for long. Muslim and Orthodox powers fight over the Black and Mediterranean Seas in some of the weirdest alliances.

When I smell weakness, I strike swift and hard, often destroying a faction's military, leaving it at my mercy - but most of time, I don't have the strenght to capture all their lands and I exchange some of the land I gained for peace - and then I attack the next neighbour.

It usually starts out quiet at first, then all hell breaks loose, similar to a calm before the storm, it is Gracul's AI best features and why I love it so much. Total War!
