    Default ...From Concentrate?

Someone told me from concentrate is as healthy as 'pure' fruit juice.

Considering an immense price difference can anyone verify?

"Every idea is an incitement. It offers itself for belief and if believed it is acted on unless some other belief outweighs it or some failure of energy stifles the movement at its birth. The only difference between the expression of an opinion and an incitement in the narrower sense is the speaker's enthusiasm for the result. Eloquence may set fire to reason." -Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

It certainly tastes different but judging from the source XCorps posted there are no nutritional benefits.

Concentrate requires less room to store, less money to ship, and can be frozen for long periods of time.

This would contribute to the lower cost.

When I was a kid we got all our orange juice from concentrate we would keep in the freezer, worked pretty well.

Nutrition labels only go so far in describing "healthfulness", which is why comparisons between concentrate and bottle come up short. As food ages, their various constituent compounds break down at widely various rates. Foods with good reputations for long-term storage initially only lose some trace compounds (potatoes), while in more sensitive foods the vast majority begin breaking down as soon as they're cut (broccoli). Dessication contributes as well, and while freezing breaks down cellulose this may or may not affect overall nutrition. In summary: a food may lose a great deal of its nutritional value in terms of trace constituents, yet according to nutrition label standards it remains the same as ever. Taste is a much better indicator.

Ever grow a garden? Ever wonder why fresh homegrown always tastes so much better? Ever compare local farmer's market produce, to that of the supermarket?

As someone who once rented a house which hosted 5 orange trees in the backyard: I cannot list for you the hundreds of trace compounds still present following the 15 min it took to pick the fruit, juice it and drink it...which has forever ruined my appreciation for concentrated OJ. Some things you cannot easily quantify; but the differences in flavor, color, consistency and texture would be obvious to anyone. Made for killer screwdrivers, too.

    Well thats just, life.

    Fresh > refrigerated > frozen

Being I don't have orange trees, I make do.

Usually, not always. Some purees work better from concentrate.

Well yes but I felt that too cooking technical for the board. I use frozen fruit for that since the ice crystals help in making it nice and smooth punching all those cell walls prior to thawing and blending. Its also better for peas as peas have such a short 'ripe'.
