What would orcs do in real life?

Okay, let's think of Lord of the rings as real life here, but keeping with the fantasy setting in place. What would invading orcs actually do when taking over a land. Burn it to the ground? Convert people into more orcs? or would they rape pillage and plunder? like the Nords did? Orcs are bad i get that. But what makes them such a threat?

IRL Orcs plunder & pillage, sure, but they also have their own economy based on:
- Enslaving humans to work on crop fields (see Appendix about Mordor) = raise their food.
- Hunting for food (animals, humans, whatever...). Hobbit-Burger... hmmm...
- Forging & crafting: they're described as very capable, although lacking any sense of Art
- Inventing machines: some Orcs are no that stupid & invented most of Arda's WMD (catapults, towers, Grond, etc.) - It's explicit in the books.
Their main problem is their own psychotic nature, their need for "big bloody orgy" preventing them from building any real civilization unless they're "disciplined" by a higher power (Morgoth, Sauron, WK, Balrog etc).

Yeah, orcs sorta represent Tolkiens view of mankind in general, he took a very dim view of our species. Two world wars with mass death of civilians, Stalins reign of terror and everything else that happened in the 20th century who can blame him.
