Default turning the Saxons into the Irish (names)

ok please confirm if I have this correct:

    1. copy the desc_names which is in my mods data folder and the Medieval2 vanilla desc_names_look_up to desktop

    2. get the Irish names from the British_isles campaign
and make aproriate editing in in desc_names (deleteing Saxon entries and replacing with I with the Irish names)

    3. now go into desc-names_look_up and paste at the bottom all of the Irish names (in proper edited format of course)

    4. put both of these files in mods main data folder

now the Saxons will be ready to be edited manually and in Geo-mod with Irish names

    thank you

Firstly the lookup file and i mean all which have the name lookup inside them are just left overs from RTW and are not in use in M2TW.
So to give a faction a list of names. U copy all the names, surnames and women's name under the descr_names.txt file under the faction entry and close it by saving it.

After that go in the text folder and open the names.txt and paste all the new names etc in it and then u are done if names are not present in this file then or any of the both files then u get a ugly CTD.

Use MS-Excel to do it in a couple of secs without messing up anything and then use the name_verifier to check everything is in order.
The MS-Excel trick i read was by Gigantus so u have to find it here somewhere.

Be sure to add the isirh names to the names.txt, too.

I don't edit the look_up files. The does not use them.

    Ishan beat me.

ok guys let see if understand correctly:

    1. convert the names. strings bin. in my british isles folder, open it and then copy all the names that are Irish then paste those names into the names text. which is in my mod folders text folder

    2. copy the Irish entries from the desc_names in the britsh_isles folder
and replace these names for the Saxon (delete the original names) entries in my mods desc_names

    is that correct

Yes that is correct but the problem is the names.txt file in the text folder of british_isles in arranged in alphabetical order so all the Irish names, surnames etc are mixed.

Thats why i told you to find that trick of MS-Excel it makes it easy in seconds.

    ok got it thank you!

edit: since there is not much data in the british_isles name string_bin.
would it not just be safer to copy the whole file and paste that into my name text. in my text folder?

Notepad++ has a real good compare feature under plugins. I have a bad feeling for Enlgand and Scotland, they are already in vanilla.

actually the text file in mods/british isles/data/text look like it is already a complete vanilla with the additonal names added
so I am thinking it might just be safe to copy the entire file and overwrite the same file in mods/druvatar map/data/text
    ???

    If have like:-
    {Raymond}Raymond
    .....
    {Raymond}Raymond
    Then it's

and u are a evil man u make me search in my PC.
    So here u go:-

Gigantus's Name converter(the xml Ms-Excel thing) Give the man a hug i mean i knew how to work in excel but i never imagined i can make it work in modding names.
And the Name verifier(It has the default names files etc so replace it to check ur names are placed correct or not).

done! ok I doubled checked region and Provinces Ireland and Irish` seemed to have done the same thing! (I always use RPM as my refferance and not vanilla, when checking proper modding outcomes me thinks I owe you big time Irish`)ok next question is purely opinion should I use the scottish voice type for them as in RPM or as some people have suggested English
Ithink the Scottish voice type is better for Ireland

In the credits you only owe RPM credit. I'm along for the ride.

Use the Scottish sounds for them(Ireland).
I have done the same just like CA has done by default in british_isles.

Sir Ron i'm not a bit familiar with European things and history but is their a difference in actual accent that is Irish and Scottish?
I think they should be same as the vikings used to attack there and they settled and established soon after.
As for england it had Saxons + Normans.
    Am i right?

Irish tribes, Scottish tribes before becoming clans, Welsh tribes, and Brittania tribes on the two islands are a mixture of Gauls and the native people that preceded them. Even as cruel as Roman rule was, they never conquered Scotland or Ireland. They are two distinctly different languages. The only thing in common is the close proximity but the Irish Sea has been a good barrier for intermingling.

The Vikings raided everybody including the Mediterrainain. I have read one of the Byzantine emperors was so impressed by their fighting skills he hired them for his personal bodyguards and was born the Vangarian Guard.

Yes i have read that and even a few kings of Denmark and Norway had served in Vangarian Guard in their early carrier.
And by the term "Van" i presume "fron"t so they might have been a lot of courageous battles fought by them.

    @Dhruv
    Glad to help bro.
