Heroic Victory Marker?

What the title says. I've won 3 Heroic Victories in a row, playing as the Byzantines (fighting Egyptians). But there have been no victory markers on the map?

All victories have been auto resolved, and with a small army (around 300 strong). Anyone know why this is happening?

I've thought that maybe it is due to a limit on the markers in a certain region. I've noticed that somewhere after 3-4 markers I never seem to get new ones in a single region. I'm not sure that is accurate but quite often seems to be the case.

If anyone has a sure explanation I'd be interested to hear it as well though because I've also often missed getting the heroic marker. Its obvious on certain terrain tiles like next to city or on a bridge but even on flat terrain with no obstacles sometimes marker does not occur.

i also remember that some auto resolved heroic battles didn't show up, i think there needs to be a respectable amount of units involved or at least a minimum, of wich i don't know xd

The fact is not every heroic victory shows up as a crossed swords symbol on the campaign map.

And the Crossed Swords have a limitation of like 12 or so(i don't know the exact count but they do have it).
Like suppose we have 10 marks spread across the map and if we have a heroic victory and a new marks gets placed then a previous marks having a low value in comparison will get removed otherwise the whole map will be filled up by these marks.

Also it's the time length that decides it, i have never seen a short(in time) heroic victory or crushing defeat battle placed as a marker.

Actually, I believe it has to do with the size of the battle. Think about it, a heroic battle of three hundred men is not really impressive, a heroic battle of 1000 plus soldiers can mean the difference in an entire war, so the crossed sword markers are probably the same way.

Some of my most impressive heroic victories were with less than 200 men though. Or do you mean total men present in the battle? That might be- often its 200 vs 800 or something as the larger battles if its only 1 stack vs 1 stack even with less than 100 losses its usually only clear victory. To get heroic with a full stack you need to fight 2+ enemy stacks.

I've got it as Lithuanians vs TO, 800 vs 1500, then with Byzzies 600 vs 1600

I just had one actually. Playing as Norway against the Mongols (long story).
I used 3000 of my finest troops, full armour, good experience against three full stacks of murderous Mongols AT THE SAME TIME. I think it ranks as one of the most intense and longest matches i have ever played actually.
The battle wasn't a siege or bridge crosssing either! We were fighting in the mountains of Greece. Luckily for me all that Mongol soon wore itself out on the steep slopes. The HA were an absolute NIGHTMARE, i don't think i've ever lost as many men to that kind of troop. In the end i managed to rout them all with a well timed cavalry charge to pin them, followed by the spearmen finally catching up.

I think the total mongol count was OVER 9000!!!! lol, happy coincidence there! They didn't come onto the field in one go though.
I needed to turn down detail all the way, i need to tune down the unit numbers i think.

I did get a marker for that.

No but in all seriousness I just fought a battle against the fledgling "English Empire" in France. 1,300 men against the enemys 2,000. All crack troops (on both sides!)

Won a heroic victory, its placed as a battle marker now =)
