Default Prototype Fort for SPQR 5.0

    Hello,

Since I have been having trouble getting anyone to help on fixing the pathway issues for the Fort, I decided to have a backup fort that wouldnt require fixing in 3DMax, sure it doesnt look as neat as the CA one, but it still looks batter than the vanilla and is MUCH bigger, plus it seems to work with no issues, except the units may go in between the tents instead of around like before.

I have attached the beta file for people to play and test and vote on if they like it better or not.

    Hi Lt,

Where do you have to put this file and do you perhaps have a screenshot?
    Thanks!

I think you have to download it!

definetly better than the vanilla fort! When do you plan on releasing 5.0?
I'd recommend using Laca's numidian skins if he allows it, they look great btw.

No, a fort one, a new fort "without" bugs!

what units are those in the screen shots? they look like units out of the RTR series, or is this what we can expect in the new SPQR?

Default LT, an Official Dissent if you please

Regarding your original Roman Fort you did, whether by design or accident, capture it wonderfully.
Your new mission, to slap doors on it, is unfortunate IMHO.
One must make the crucial distinction between a FORT, which would mean a semi-permanent affair such as the double-lines of Ceasar at Alesia, or the countless garrisoned forts of the sort favoured in your own American West, and a Roman MARCHING Fort.
A MARCHING fort was made by the soldiers at the end of the day's grueling march, WITHOUT exception. They were not made or intended to serve longer than the single night, and the entries were NOT formal "portae" (gates) but easily defensible narrow points -- just as you had it on your first go.
I would say to you then that at most you might consider making the entrances a bit more narrow, perhaps a fire step for the missile tossers, but if you include gates I will keep your original work which was so excellent and remains so in my view.
Here are some views of a MARCHING (overnight, non-permanent/semipermanent) fort for your consideration:

Its for all to share, As long as other mods give credit in the readme it free for all to use. :-)

Prometheus my friend, No its not the city layout its the CA fort underlay and overlay that CA left out, BUT I did a Different pathfinding.cas using the older less buggy one and then use the Town wall setup. It really seems to work and looks nice, plus the Towers shoot and they have doors, and more important is that there is PLENTY of ROOM in the fort for a full 3-4000 man army! :-)

I guess I plan to make a new Fort for the other factions also. Like I said this fort or an improved version in SPQR 5.0 can be used in any of the mods as long as they give me credit for the fort setup. I figure many others may tweak or improve the fort, but overall I say its pretty good as is.

I look forward to more feedback, as I look into improving the forts for the other factions. :-)

I will most likely release this is a small mod for other modding teams and individuals to use, as a new working fort is something all should share. :-)
