Help with save games

I seem to be experiencing a problem with my save games. I have an autosave and a manually saved game each a few minutes apart.
When I try to continue campaign or load one of them it goes through the load process and then immediately deposits me back at the menu screen.
Has anyone ever experienced this before.
One thing that I did just recently that may have caused this issue is I have installed Barbarian invasion.
Would that have updated the base game enough to have rendered the saves non-compatible?
If so, then by saving my saves and uninstalling the whole thing and re-installing Rome solo will it allow me to use my saves.
I do not want to lose it as I am about 4 regions from total world domination.

It might have depending on what your original Rome was patched to. When you put BI on, I think the RTW.exe updates to 1.5. If you were using a lower version than that beforehadn your saves mightn't be compatible.

You could try reinstalling Rome by itself at the version you had to see if that helps. Some more technical members of the forum might be able to help you more.
