Default Dark Age - few questions

I started new campaign as Danmarkar Riki to experience wonders of being pagan nation surrounded by christians. It wasn't so bad actually, even the pope seemed to like me. Few alliances and the land of once brave was pretty much safe. I get kicked out of britain and things started to getting little boring so I deicde to around a little.

    1) In game there is a province called "Książęta Pmoroscy" which means "Pomeranian Princes" in polish, shouldn't it be "Księstwo Pomorskie" - Duchy of Pomerania?

    2) Does Danes have any other foot soldiers besides Huskarlars and Vikingr in Dark Age campaign? those two units makes most of my army (actually almost all of it, I don't use cavalry - using cavalry would mean a pussyfication of my Viking horde roargh... erm) and I think that guys in chain mails and gjermundbu helmets shouldn't be a backbone of an army.

    3) Is SicilianVespers is still working on this mod and Dark Age campaign, in particular? Because if not, i'm going to strangle a ing puppy.

In towns you can recruit Spear Militia. They have good defense after upgrade to light mail or higher. Are almost as good as Vikingr and better against cavalry.

When I played Danes I used light cavalry to destroy routing enemy, so they would not come back in a later turn. If you don't care about that you can still collect a lot of money from the prisoners that the light cavalry can take in a hurry after a victory (go for heavy units and generals).

Problem is that there's no point in catching routing units (unless I want to take and hold province. Right now I don't, most of the time I'm sitting in my homeland and do some occasional raids in britain) - AI never want's to pay the ransom so I have to slay prisoners anyway. I never actually used militias in battles, do they any good? can they hold the line? an army mostly made of lightly armoured spearmans with some Huskarlars or Vikingr looks a bit more historical.

PS. I think I'm going to raze all my blacksmith buildings, upgraded Vikingr unfortunately look way worse than normal ones.

Spear militia might/will rout a Vikingr unit in defensive stand, since an attacking unit gets tired/exhausted and defending unit stays fresh. They're better against cavalry too. I use them on my flanks and one in the middle.

In Scandinavia you can also recruit mercenaries (frankish spear) with a general. They have 12 defense points. They can hold the line against anyone.

If you want to defeat vikings: let them run around the battle field chasing you (in their heavy mail), till they are so tired that they fall over. Then you finish them .

All you need to do is edit the export_descr_unit_dark.txt file, and copy the second upgrade model to the 3rd and 4th upgrades.

Some one mentioned this in another thready (forgot who), but i need to add era restrictions to the blacksmith buildings. I'm not sure how this slipped thru the cracks....I'll make sure it gets into the next release.

It can be done in the middle of a campaign or I must start a new one to see the effects?

PS. Oh yes, I Just taken a Bretagne and started a war with western franks. Frankish cavalry was giving me a very hard time so i quickly reformed my armies to have at least 9 units of spear militias. I havy much less casualties this way (This is very important for me since only way to retrain units is to transport them to recently conquered small kingdom in britain).

You will be able to continue your campaign, this will just change what models are used in the battles.

P.S. Make sure you make a backup of the file first.

Thanks, I'v done what you said and everything now looks fine (By the way, darkage units looks great, especially saxons and danmarkar huskarls, outstanding job). I'v tried many mods (including Stainless Steel) but no other was so much fun to play as Chivalry II. Good luck at polishing this mod and thanks for what you'v made already.

Thanks, but I have to give credit to Disgruntled Goat, for the Saxon and Viking units (I think I made a few more based on his work)

    Thanks, again...
