Tony Curtis is. Time to have a film marathon in honour of him, starting with Some Like It Hot.

Tony Curtis, the 1950s Hollywood heartthrob who won acclaim as a sleazy press agent in Sweet Smell of Success and earned stardom as a skirt-wearing saxophone player in Some Like It Hot, has died aged 85, Sky News reported.

Curtis appeared in 90 movies and was nominated once for an Academy Award, for Stanley Kramer's The Defiant Ones (1958). Curtis impressed critics in the film about a prison escape, playing a convict shackled to a black inmate (Sidney Poitier) he despises until they forge a bond fleeing through the US south...

Grew up watching his movies. My mum studied film, mostly old ones, and my mom often put me in front Curtis movies so she could study without watching over me to much.

But well the guy had a fulfilling life I can imagine and grew old. RIP

Some Like It Hot is an amazing film.

Sad to say this: Never heard of him. Any good films to start with?

^Some like it hot, also starring Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemon is a true classic. Then there is Taras Bulba, starring Yul Brunner. Also played in Spartacus and The Vikings next to Kirk Douglas.

But other than that he was more the go to guy what lighthearted 50's/60's comedy's where concerned. Not real quality acting/scripts/etc but just lighthearted era comedys in the truest sense of the word.

Also did a 70's TV series with Roger Moore, about two playboys solving crime. lol, seen one episode, on DVD once but wasn't even that bad. Kinda funny show no one including themselves took all to seriously.

In real life the man was known for his good looks and playboyism resulting in many many affairs. Even Hugh Heffner or Wilt Chamberlain could learn a thing or two from Tony Curtis.
