    Default Medieval 2 Events

    I don't know why but somehow the historical events just stopped working. So the Mongols won't attack no gunpowder, no Timurids etc. I don't know how this happened but if someone knows how to fix this that would be awesome. The same thing happened in Kingdoms too no events at all.

    Did you edit timescale in descr_strat.txt? Or changed anything in the files?

    No invasions and no gunpowder? sounds to me like you need to start playing Byzantium

    In the medieval2.preferences.cfg, see if event_cutscenes = 1 is set this way.

    Sir Ron that is for Small Clips that we see in Battle map. Like General or captain dying, or gate breaks.

    I can't get into the file to change anything how can I do this. I'm not that good with stuff like this.

    The file is medieval2.preference.cfg file in the main M2 directory just open it with notepad and then u can check it.

    Check to be sure it is not set read-only.

    That didn't work. And is the preferences supposed to look like this or is something missing.

    You started new campaign? That change takes effect only in a new campaign...

    Just to clarify:

    • You say that the events just stopped working? Did they work before?
    • Did you install any other software in that time?
    • Did you reinstall M2 and Kingdoms recently?
    • What OS are you running on?

    They worked fine before. No other software. Reinstalling didn't work. And I'm on Windows 7. The last thing I remember before the events stopped working was that I changed the army sizes to huge if that helps at all.

    That should have nothing to do with it.

    1. Log in as Administrator.
    2. Disable the UAC.
    3. In the icon's preferences\advanced, set it XP SP3 Compatible, and "Run as Administrator".
    4. Start a new campaign, not one from a save, post your medieval2.preferences.cfg.

    I see no reason why not there.

    Attatch your descr_events.txt and descr_strat.txt in the imperial_campaign folder.

    Bow long do you play?

    Gunpowder does not happen until turn 210 to 220 and that would make it about 1290 to 1300.
    Mongol arrival announcement is about 1208 plus or turn 128 or later.
    The first Black Death 1346 or turn 266.
