FREEZING??!!

I would like to start off by saying that i love the Stainless Steel mod, and find it to have much better units and MUCH more entertaining than regular M2TW.

That said, i started a campaign as the Cursader States, but soon found that every few turns, my game freezez and i have to restart my computer. I find this quite anoing, and wounder why this happens.

I came here to post this. I've reproduced it under both SS 5.1 and 6.2. Running Vista on a dual-core 3.33, card is a GeForce 9800 GX2. My freezes take place anywhere related to the strategic map...on the map, during my turn, AI turn, diplomacy screen, you name it. Sometimes it's the 5th turn, sometimes the 105th, never reproducible specific to the time before. Can't alt-tab out and have to do a hard reboot. Checked the card and it's running a little hot but nothing unusual on this rig and everything else is ultra smooth. UAC is off, drive is kept pretty well defragged. The wierd thing is I used to play SS 5.1 on this same machine without ever seeing this problem.

I don't think it's an SS specific thing, but you guys seem to know best. Anyone have any advice? An old driver recommendation? Something tells me that's the issue.

I think I fixed it. The strategic map resolution was different from my monitor's native resolution. After having made them the same, no freezes in over 50 turns of play.
