    Default Warhammer 40k mod anyone?

For the moment this will just be a brainstorming thread. Medieval II: Total War seems like a brutal enough enviroment for this kind of warfare, melee combat is common and guns can work simply as they are now with a few animation tweaks. But still any ideas? Any pitched in will be listed here, there really should be one.

Yeah but that's Warhammer Fantasy Battle. There are two different Warhammer universes.

40k is rather..gun based, yes? So maybe for Napoleon or Empire it'd be a more fitting possibiltiy, but with it being soo far in the future, i doubt even those could have it..sorry mate, but it's a lovely idea, but i highly doubt any game has the qualities to be able to fit a Warhammer 40k mod..although I could picture it..

Imperium Of Man- Cheap guardsmen and expensive elite troops, primarily relies on numbers and tanks/artillery
Space Marines of the Imperium-High quality, expensive, task-specific units?
Orks(Orkz)-Melee based with some good shoota or choppa units, primarily looted tankz from humies
Eldar and Dark Eldar- Low numbers, variety of units that fit a certain task, highly lethal in that field, suck if not facing that Ex- Rangers- Great at long range, suck at close.
Chaos..-All 4 or Chaos United under Abbadon*..cultists, CSMs, chosens, daemons...
    Necrons- ROBOT ZOMBIES

do n`t forget the appeal in mtw2 is the combat is so "up close and personal!)" you would have to completly do away with that part of the game! and yes the gunpowder units could be modified to some degree (appearance, sounds and other cosmetics) but they would never behave like a modern or futuristic soldier it is hardcoded "the hold the line" medieval formations and group unit dynamics
sorry but it just would not work! unless you to do some really, really serious modding to the campaign and eliminate battle mode all together!

You'd need skinners, modellers and animators from hell to do this. It would make call of warhammer, rusichi and TATW look like lego in comparison.
It would be more of a project than it was to get Mamluks in game- a tank for instance or a hover vehicle would have to float and multiple weapons would have to be rigged... I can just imagine the issues.
Apart from actual units, a campaign would be impossible- is the map going to be a 3D projection of the galaxy- You know there is a 200 region limit right? The tech tree would be a friggin nightmare, then you've got traits, character names, music, new UIs, menus, screensavers, quotes.... maybe you could mod the quotes... lol

I'm considering a post-apocalyptic mod, which would avoid all the limitations of following the WH40K mythology (and other media) but still take inspiration and work along the same lines. But even that would be a massive undertaking, but at least I can use imagination to get around problems and engine limits. I'm sorry mate, but 40k is never going to be represented professionally. You'd be better off just playing Dawn of War for god's sake.

A warhammer 40k mod in the M2 engine would suck. No apropriate effects, you cant even create a tank with animated tracks, machine guns arent possible. You are mistaken if you think "few animation tweaks" can solve that. Go play DoW instead. i suggest you play Firestorm over Kronus mod.

But the steam tank has wheels, not tracks. Besides what about tank crews, multiple weapons on a same vehicle? The list of reasons can go on and on. Try DoW FoK and Im sure you will like it. I would like to have a mod that mixes DoW gameplay with total war campaign style but this mod doesnt exist right now.
