    Default Question on Unit Pool Depletion

    Recently I've been having alot of fun duplicating units and making them trainable as generals. So that you have a selection of a general sword unit, a general horse unit, etc...but I want to know if I can link the unit pools to grow and deplete together or at the very least if I can deplete them all by training one unit. If not its a bit over powered to be able to train so many generals so quickly... I want, for example, to drain all the general unit's pools in a city if I train one of the general units....that way I can put them all with an initial value and a long long refill rate and it will be a choice.

    Since you already know who to add generals then go in the EDB file and in it's recruitment line changes it's regeneration rate to like 15 turns or so.

    Thats not exactly what I was asking. Lets say that I have units A, B, and C. If I train C I wanted it to deplete the unit pool for A, B, and C.

    It think it can be done by blocking the recruitment of other units through the CS using event_counter but right now i'm not in mood to script and think.

    If no one answers then i'll post my thoughts tomorrow.

    I think it's possible. It will take some nifty scripting though

    Yes and that's why i bailed out till tomorrow coz u know Taiji my brain might get damaged if i overdue scripting.

    Nope, now I think it's not possible afterall. I just can't see a way to script it.

    I thought if we have to put in some thought and do a bit of testing with it it might be possible.

    Sounds complicated, I suppose I could use the unique_unit "ability," to limit the overall number, but I'd like to set the cap to 2 or 3 rather than....1....if someone knows of an easier way to do that! Thanks for the effort all.

    Hey Taiji what do u say we put the , unique_unit attrib to the unit and then until that type of general say A will not die in battle or natural causes he can't recruit A type.

    I think it will be good enough mean all A, B, C are unique so only at one time there can't like double AA or BB's or CC's.

    I ask you, do the other options vanish when you choose one? Or will the remaining options be available to recruit at the same time? I think the latter, and so I think the idea cannot work.

    Yes Taiji you are right bro about the latter part i just thought it won't spread around the generals commonly like other heavy cavalry units.

    For now I am just going to make two or three per faction and make them unique units.

    Any way to increase the limit of a unique unit through building or events to more than 1? And, to add battle models, do I have to enter the frightening battle_model file?

    Yes u have to edit the BMDB file and it's not that frightening if u are using the formatted version.

    I suppose the problem would be that I'm already using TATW...well....maybe its time to learn a bit about that file...Thanks again!

    If u are using TATW then u are already using the formatted version so no need to download it.
    You have to edit the one that TATW has other wise if u lose TATW's BMDB file then your whole mod will get ruined so make sure u back it up before fiddling.

    Yikes......this file is insane; I canīt make much sense of it yet. I don't know where one unit starts and the other begins and I haven't found much in the way of tutorials breaking down the significance of the various lines. Sorry to drag this thread out and sorry to pester, but.....any suggested threads to get going? I am mainly looking to add models that I have...acquired...from other submods. Its all for personal use so not hating! And I learned back in the original Medieval Total War the importance of back up files! Oh the nightmares!
