No DLC?

I find it surprising, that with Rome being their best, and most played game, CA never made any DLC for it. I would think that they would have tapped into this gold mine. They could have an infinite number of units, such as "the ninth legion" or "Julius Caesar". or campaigns such as the civil war of Rome. I know there are various mods, but if some DLC was released and made available for multiplayer I'm sure everyone would buy it. Any comments or thoughts?

Im probably biting the bait here, but 'Rome total war: Alexander' and 'Rome total war: Barbarian Invasion' were released long ago. Sure they dont offer single unique units, but they do offer unique factions and/or new campaigns.

Defnietly no then, I am too old fashioned to pay for a file/game without a disk/booklet. That's why I never purchase games online too. Only in shops.

I'll buy games with discs/manuals etc from Amazon or wherever, and I do enjoy having a booklet/guide to flick through as I ponder my cunning strategies, but the idea of wasting hours of my life downloading full games holds little appeal.

DLC I view as penny pinching nonsense...paying extra for a few dopey units? mugs game. Where's it all gonna end?.....paying to have your units supplied with 'ammo' ? Shove that.

To be honest, I would be more than happy to pay for RTW all over again if it gave us the ability to edit the AI and increased the cap on the faction and DMB slots. Not going to happen though. :/

iirc Alexander was initially released as 'download only' before it found its way onto Rome Gold2 and Anthology discs.

Alexander could be considered as an early venture into the murky world of dlc.

dlc. you will get owned on mp with fancy units or without. everyone gets owned from time to time. no exceptions. not worth spending money to get cause then yer gonna feel bad bout yer money.

DLC wasn't really popular at this time. Expansions were very common, though, which would be BI and Alex for RTW.

To me, downloadable things don't appeal now either...


I remember how outraged I was when I found that Warcraft 3: Frozen throne didn't have an orc campaign, only in a separate download. They can go and ... themselves.

Indeed..dlc can shove it until gold editions are released. I recall being amazed when I heard that the peninsular campaign stuff was a dlc for NTW. I wouldve taken it as an automatic shoe-in and an integral part of NTW.

RTW-wise, it'd be on a par with having the barbarian factions as a dlc Who are the Romans gonna clobber and create their empire without them involved in the game? ffs

Ha-ha no, but I just found it surprising that CA never tried to sell any like special units. Look at empire, I have my 33rd foot, royal regiment of new york......and so many others. I personally don't really like the idea that a half finished game is released then the rest is sold to you separately, but think it would be kind of cool if they released a free DLC (unlikely) or a LARGE bunch of DLC units for campaign or something.

Dont give Creative assemblys overlord{Sega}any ideas. They have already helped ruin this once great franchise with DLC,not releasing modding tools and trying to appeal to the Wii generation.
