Throwing this out. I would be happy to work / lead a mod such as this.
Working on the T-Shirt Size / LOE for a project to Port over Age of Wonders 2 : Shadow Magic into Medieval 2 Total War : Kingdoms. Comments and Recommendations AND critiques are welcome.
Now that Age of Wonders 2 has been released on Direct to Download, the soundtrack can be pushed in directly to add music to a mod for Kingdoms.
Many models and textures can be re used from some other worthy mods; with permission.
Third Age Total War : Small changes could be made to create units for the following factions :
Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Orcs (substantial reskinning and some re modelling), Dark Elves (substantial reskinning and some re modelling), goblins (substantial reskinning and some re modelling), and some others.
A good baseline for the Undead faction could be take from CoW, if permission were granted.
A UI could be made to match some of the colors / themes of the original.
Flying units could obviously not be added.
Building Tree could easily be changed as well to reflect all factions. Some icons could even be re used.
this leaves the High Men, Azracks, Lizardmen, and a few others as some of the only factions needing to be skinned!
Models would have to be created from scratch for some of the famous units; so a gifted unit creator would be needed; but that would be based on quality not quantity.
Race would exist based on a building tree. Alignment would be based on culture. ie, if you were a dark elf, you could recruit Orc units without penalty, but not high elves.
A Map could be built entirely from scratch for this. This is the toughest part of the port over. The inability found new cities will be interesting to say the least.
Needless to say, long term there would HAVE to be unique building for this mod.
Anyone interested? Please elt me know. right now this is only in concept / whip stage; unless i get some gifted people willing to put some work in.
