    Icon8 ~Perillicious Campaign Project~ (PCP) BETA 02, Now 40% more delicious!

    ~
    Use this thread to discuss the beta, i.e. battle balance, campaign balance, bugs, etc. Useful feedback is appreciated and will be repped!
    ~

    Some of what is included:
    ~ Start date is 2941, starting positions and unit recruitment overhauled, based on lore and realism.
    ~ Hundreds of new units.
    ~ Dozens of new regions.
    ~ Ten new playable factions.
    ~ Hundreds of NEW models and animations.
    ~ Many types and sizes of creatures; Flying, fire breathing, four legged, and serpent Drakes, Flying Fell Beast and Flying Giant Bats, Giant Spiders, Wolves and Wargs, Flying Great Eagles, Barrow Wights, etc.
    ~ Greatly expanded, unique and challenging campaign for each faction, based on lore and realism.
    ~ New rebels and mercenaries in every region.
    ~ More active campaign AI.
    ~ Lots of small tweaks in a lot of files, too many to remember.

    This is a beta of course, so all is not how it should be. New scripts have not been included yet, but it is stable and should be a lot of fun without them. It is for me anyway... Click my sig for more info. No bugs that I know of.

    Download Removed.
    Closed Beta phase, PM me to be a Beta tester.

    Warning: For vanilla TATW 2.1, does not work with other major modifications that change the same files.

They are a mere shadow of their former size and strength, with the exception of a select few that have somehow managed to survive through the ages. Includes all four legged cold drakes. Strengths: Variety of strong units, dragon scale armor. Weaknesses: Low unit numbers, no ranged units.

    Brood of Ancalagon- These drakes are relatives of the mightiest of all drakes, Ancalagon the Black. Though many perished in the great wars of old, the small amount that survived have grown strong through the ages. Few can match their strength and ferocity. Includes all fire drakes. Strengths: Large and powerful, fire breathing units, flying units, dragon scale armor. Weaknesses: Very low unit numbers.

    Spawn of Ungoliant- Now that Sauron has been cast down taking much of the strength of Elves, Dwarves, and Men along with him, Ungoliant plots for the dominance of all. Without the power of Sauron to contend with, all of Middle-Earth will be covered in her un-light, and everything in it will be hers to devour. Strengths: Variety of strong and weak units, exoskeleton armor. Weaknesses: No ranged units.

    Non-Playable Campaign Factions: (units available in custom battles)

    Creatures of the Night- These creatures are of kin to each other in some strange way. Since then they have always acted as allies against their mutual enemy, in order to insure their mutual survival. Strengths: Variety of strong and weak units, flying units. Weaknesses: Weak armor, no ranged units.

    Optional Dual install, for those that want a separate mod folder for installation.

    Create your own Third Age Perillicious Campaign Project folder.

    First:

    - Make a copy of your Third Age 2.1 folder.

    - Rename the copied folder to: ThirdAge_PCP

    - Rename TATW.cfg and Third Age.bat in copied folder to ThirdAge_PCP.cfg and ThirdAge_PCP.bat

    - Right click on the bat and copy in:

    cd ..\..
    start kingdoms.exe @mods\ThirdAge_PCP\ThirdAge_PCP.cfg

    -Open the cfg and change:

    [features]
    editor = true
    mod = mods/Third_Age

    to

    [features]

    editor = true
    mod = mods/ThirdAge_PCP

    -Now you have folder for Perillicious Campaign Project separate from your original TATW install.

    Second: Install the Beta files into ThirdAge_PCP folder.

    Well over 30 peeps have downloaded it in the past 2 days, so I guess they just need a chance to play it. Either that or they played it, thought it sucked, and promptly deleted it into oblivion .

    The reason for the vague title is so that people who are familiar with my mod are the ones that download and test it, not just random passerby's who have no idea what I am trying to accomplish.

    hmmm... I don't know why no one is posting feedback, hopefully that will change once the weekend comes around and everyone has some free time.

    I am about half done with what I am scripting (start positions, armies, rebel placements, and spawns) in the campaign so these units need some fine tuning.

    This looks definitly promising (some pics would - i think be very good)
    If it's as good as it sounds i think it would be really worthy and great addition to the main mod (or parts) if you allowed of course

    Will defintily test this the next days

    I have been playing the "Perillicious Immersion Mod Project" (PIMP) for the past two days and it is A LOT of fun.

    It is a culmination of a few mod projects of mine over the past few months, lots of complete overhauls and small tweaks but I won't go into detail now. Basically it improves every aspect of the campaign. Overall, the campaign seems much more active and realistic to lore, and I am not even done yet. It actually feels like Middle-Earth now, not just a mostly empty map that you scoop up as fast as possible.

    Here is a screenie of the new map.

    The best thing about it is that I only wanted to play as Gondor in vanilla, NOW that is the only faction I don't want to play as. YAY!

    And the wardogs do have very long noses, is that supposed to be like that ???

    Set the unit era date (or whatever its called) to all instead of early to get the new units in custom battle

    ahhh ok
    thx

    And about the wardogs, are the extreme long noses normal ??
    Did set the time on all - i tried every spider/wolve and drake unit, all are invisible.

    I'll have to leave that question to Alreadyded, because i dont have a clue Only thing i can think of is that it got corrupted, or you put the files in the wrong place, but don't take my word on it.

    I never had the invisible problem or heard of anyone else having it so I don't know what is causing it. Are you using it with another submod? I have no idea what is up with the pointy nosed wardogs, they were already in the game. I just made them available for custom battles so I don't forget to fix them. Plus they make me laugh It looks like a swordfish dog.

    Nope, i had frome so i reinstalled third age 2.1 completly.
    Just redownloaded the 004 file, may be it really was a corrupt download.

    lol didnt mean it to sound like you were incapable of putting files into folders, i was just throwing out ideas.
    No worries, i know, i just wanted to say that that cannot be the reason

    I am a complete noob at modding so this problem is out of my league. No one else (out of 60 peeps) has reported any bugs though and the only thing I can think of that could even make units invisible is the model comments, so maybe the model files got corrupted. I can PM the Campaign Beta to you, it has all the units for custom battles also, and I just tested and uploaded it myself yesterday. Let me know.

    You are noob at modding...So how do you do that many units

    Really strange, still doesn't work.
    I have a totally clean TA installation - even reinstalled to check, i have downloaded it twice, files should be ok, i checked the directions and folders twice and still they are invisible...
    That's really strange

    May be for what reason ever I am too silly for it

    I just learned how to do this stuff over the past few months, I'm a quick study. This stuff isn't that hard to do, just takes time to get familiar with. I haven't spent much time on it so I am not very familiar with it, and this game can be quite buggy when you start modding parts that are hardcoded. I already filled up some of the text files so they can't hold anymore entries, and that is just one of the hardcoded things I have had to work around. Getting the animations in was a biznitch.

    Try this, it's the Campaign Beta. It has all the units for custom battles as well. There is like 80 new units so it is a pretty big download.
