    Default xp?

Why my units get less xp when I lead battle then when I go automatic resolve although my battles are Heroic and auto just average?

XP is ... rather random, I think. Part of the reason it increases more when you auto-resolve, though, is that it's not a shared value, each soldier has his own XP value, so the fewer the soldiers in the unit, the closer the average and the (generally) higher Unit XP. Getting a Heroic Victory is dependent on the odds against you and the number of casualties you take; it's possible to get them via auto-resolve, although it pretty much requires you to Auto-Win only a couple units against a full army to do so.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Experience is fickle. The lack of order in it is just one of those things I'm afraid.

A unit gains exp from killing a certain amount of enemy troops, simply if you don't use certain batalions very much it's much likely they won't receive exp. On autoresolve the exp is shared. An avarage victory means the enemy could still kill most of your army or your army couldn't kill enough of the enemy tough the enemy killed alot of your army this means you're better of playing on the battlemap. Don't worry, the exp will come

Why? Do get best xp on your troops you need to fight many battles as possible with that army, then you get huge xp and your troops are like golden. Dont repair them but fight whit one stack until you can and then repair it. But dont lose that stack otherwise its useless.

@Propaganda: you seem to have misunderstood his question

He was asking why his troops are getting experience points for average victories
when auto-resolving but no (or less) experience points for heroic victories when
fighting it out on the battle map.

I've noticed this too, its really annoying.

The tale of Legio IV Flavia Felix: After cowardice during the Revolt of 69-70 AD the IV Macedonian was reconstituted and renamed IV Flavia Felix, or "lucky legion" signifying its luck at not being dishonorably disbanded.
