I havnt seen many threads on this forum regarding MPC and personally i think this is by far the best aspect of the game and the only bit I really play. The thing is you need a partener who is reasonable, skilled, and has plenty of time on their hands which I have finally found after playing with some total ****s in the past. Anyway Ive just opened this thread to hear about peoples MPC strategies for various nations and opinions on who are the best matched nations. I will also be posting my own startegy tips for the various nations in the european campaign if the thread attracts any interest.

    Hey Dave,

Unfortunately only a handfull of us play mpc as it should be played. But if we find the right people its a lot of challenge and fun.

for me its striking how your skills from doing mp battles goes down the toilet playing in MPC. Its a whole different experience, isn't it?

I myself use a few tricks but nothing special.

Probably the most important thing is to know exactly how you can get the most money out of your country in the shortest period of time to be successful.

The other thing is to keep your forces together and always fight with local superiority. Easier said then done but thats the only way you can follow through with a conquest. Battles are if we have two similarly skilled opponents very bloody, lots of casualties. Maneuver, hide and suprise the enemy is probably more important than winning battles and still losing due to an unprotected capital.

Diplomacy is the other key. Get as many allies and make peace is the game. Once we have lots of trade agreements, stabil income, we can start bribing others to make some dirty work for us. Sometimes it can yield really good results, other times its a complete waste of money.

I had an MPC when for a while both of us managed to cancel all of the other's trade agreements, it was a matter of who can bribe just one more to win. I lost it eventually causing to lose the whole mpc later on.

I play just only a very few set rules:

    Dont kill generals with spies
Dont attack spawning units straight away coming into the battlefield.( Many people does that automatically not thinking this is probably the worst exploit of the game design)

    Rest is up to taste.

Camping which stirs a lot of dust in mp games is nonexistent in mpc. If u have to defend, u pick a hill and fortify it. Defend it with all available tools and tricks.

good topic, hope others will join in with some stories and tips,

    Wick

Thanks for the response mate and i agree completely with everything you have said. I like your two rules aswell because i have lost so many generals to spies its ridicuous. Also when we have a battle with reinforcements its always a race to the reinforcement point to block/defend it so another good rule. look me up on steam, my name is the same, whats yours?

I always get campers and rage quitters when I join a random battle.

I always try to find a good clan game.

And how this relates to mpc?

Ok well here are a few basic strategies that I think are key to a successful MP campaign (a few have already been highlighted by wick but i will repeat them):
Never start a war with an AI faction
Concentrate all yr military effort on defending yr main regions and attacking the other human player
Get as many allies and trade partners as possible
Create protectorates or buffer states to deny territory to yr opponent without having to defend it yrself
    NEVER attack an ally
    Concentrate on making money
Fight any AI battle where you have a good chance of doing damage
Only engage when you have a clearly superior army
Use spies to constatly sabotage their main income buildings
Having large amounts of territroy is not always a good thing, its better to have a smaller empire with better infastructure
Dont try and hold paris berlin or london if you have invaded them, just loot and run
Always offer cash/techs/access to AI to attack/embargo other player
Try and force the other player to attack strong neutral states or their own allies
If you are in a battle and it starts going badly, withdraw from the field
If you have good artillery in a battle and are the defender, camp, force them onto yr canister
If the enemy use massive arty spam in attacking armies, camp behind a hill or in a town centre and force them to attack (trust me this stops people using arty spam pretty quick)
If you take a territory that you know yr enemy will take back, dismantle every building

I will probably post some specific strategies for individual factions sometime soon.

I suggest using mods that unlock all factions to spice things up after you're bored of the vanilla options.

The worst thing to in a russia vs France campaign is to land a giant stack in crimea and rush moscow right at the start.

    Hello,
I've been trying to start a mpc with someone ever since I first got the game (about a month ago), but so far I havn't been able to start one. I've played the single player campaign a few times, so I know a bit about campaign games. The AI is terrible however (esp the battle AI), so I've stopped playing single player games. I really enjoy the mp battles, and playing campaign battles against a human would be soo cool
If anyone wants to play a campaign with me, please reply and add me on steam. My account name is triple25mm. I am a dedicated player, and I won't quit, especially not if I'm losing; for some reason I've always wanted to be defeated, but the AI just isn't good enough. Also, I'll try and figure out what times I'll be on (in the evenings mostly, when I'm not doing homework or course work).

Right, Dave, when is the next time your on? and do you have hamachi? cos I wanna play a campaign so bad. Me and this super-cool dude from america tried it but "no response from host" kept coming up. Hamachi should be able to solve that. In the mean time, I now have some experience with the campaign, and no way of using it ;( tis a grim day for mpc- for me anyways
