Bassoon - a beautiful instrument

This is a topic about the bassoon. Here you can post music, videos, chat about it, or even ask what it is ( which I am sure most of you will xD). With this topic I am trying to revive the bassoon just a little bit, concerning the possibilities of doing that on a video-games forum xD. Howdie!

I was in band for several years of my life and I always liked the bassoon. The most impressive characteristic of the instrument is its range that it can play. It can play very high and very low, something which I find notable for the bassoon more than any other instrument. Probably one of the most well known bassoon performances is the solo at the beginning of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring - Adoration of the Earth.

I used to play that for, like, 4 years before I got sick of it.

I wanted to play it, but the wind instrument teacher at my school decided that since i had a cleft palate it wasn't a good choice (which was BS, i tried it last year and i could do it fine) so i had to play the flute instead. Tbh, I prefer small, i play the piccolo a lot and its more fun imo.

Another reason I like the bassoon is that they used to sit be me, a bass trombone player, in band. It was nice to have some woodwinds by me because being a low brass player the woodwinds always seemed an entirely different part of the band. But the bassoons played similar music the trombones were and them being by me made it feel like the musical separation between woodwinds and brass wasn't so big.
