    Default Atheist Station

I live in a town with a population of 2,000, where around 1,900 are Roman Catholic, 95 other Christian, and 5 Atheists (numbers may be a little off). The Atheist put up an "Atheist Station" in sight of the only tourist attraction in my town. Now that may not sound bad, but on the side of the "Atheist Station" they put up a painting making fun of the Wailing Wall in Jeweruselem. Also, the Bishop in my area died and they protested his funeral. They are obviously trying to pick a fight with the Christians in my town, and are not above putting up anti-Semitic images and protesting at funerals. It is also obvious they want the Catholics to burn down the building in order to make national news so they can portray Christians as dangerous religious zealots. What do you think about this?

Edit: No one enters the building.

Totally inappropriate and immature. There are ways of getting your point across beyond insulting the death of a Holy Man and attempting to insult the wailing wall.

If you want, I can get a picture of the painting insulting the Jewish men at the Wailing Wall and post it.

Host it, and link to it, and post a warning, due to the fact it may offend certain members.

Just so no one thinks so I am not anti-Atheist. Someone I talk to, and get along with, is an Atheist and a Socialist.

ExcImperiator: Okay, I'll try to remember to do that.

I wonder how much trouble I would get in if I get a piece of paper with 95 complaints against the building and nail it to the door?

I think I'll just report it to the local Synagogue and they can continue with any process they choose.

I am curious, why has this not gathered the attention of the ACLU? Has someone not tried to contact them? Despite their bad rep among certain conservatives amongst us, they DO serve a good purpose in theory, and this "monument" could be enough to provoke them. Unless our stereotypes of them are real.

Just so everyone knows, I sent the website showing the Mural to Fox News Station as a news tip, hopefully they'll look into it. (I know you may not like Fox News, but I do so shut up )

    Good one.

Also, take Mr Flint's advice, contact the anti-defimation league. They have an army of lawyers that will stick it to them.

I don't mean to defend the stuff you say they're doing, but...

I think this sort of thing happens usually not because the people are actually that hateful towards those who they appear to be. In some cases yes, but usually it is just a small group that is struggling for a voice, and this leads to frustration, which leads to taking more extremist stances/displays like this. It is by no means just with atheists...this, in my opinion, is what leads to a lot of the extremist crap that you see out there, and it receives too much indignation in return.

Regardless of my above point(even if it doesn't apply here, it does frequently), after reading more of their website, they seem more and more immature with each sentence, people like this should just be ignored really, because publicity just helps them advance into prominence.

AP, bashing another denomination is not a good way to promote your own. I mean, doesn't the same go for arguements? You know, you can tell when a person has lost his own validity and integrity when all he can do is make attacks on his opposition...
    EDIT: Damn, sorry, double post.

Though this a preponderance of Catholics in the town, the people are suprisingly very liberal towards Atheists and Protesants. Everyone pretty much minds their own business when it comes to religion till those people decided to do what they did.

    Sigh. Way to "rise above."

Contacting Bill O'****ingRielly is about the worst thing you could do for your "cause" because all he will do is take these five atheists and blow them into 500,000 Godless heathen who dare question the sanctity of Christ. He'll make your ideals look assinine. It's what he does.

And for Christs sake people, what ever happened to just leting people do what they will? Frankly, if those atheists put up something offensive to you as a Christian or Jew, then fine. Let them. Does it bother you? Too freaking bad, but you know how you can get back at them? Don't do this whole overlitigation , or report them to the anti-Defamation :wub:s or Bill O'Rielly, play ball with them. Put up something on YOUR lawn that offends them, or do that 95 theses thing you mentioned. Don't whine and **** and moan about it, then you're doing exactly what they are. You sound like a six year old crying home to mommy because someone stole your lunch money.

Legally speaking, they can put up whatever they want on their private property, but the cool thing is you can do the same. So why don't you, and leave a local issue between five whiney atheists a LOCAL issue. Or you could just do what every other overlitigious American does and whine all teh way to the media and make every little tiny local issue a national issue.

Please, don't EVER attack liberals for their over-complaining. You are doing the exact same thing here.

EDIT: Well, it seems like the thread cooled down in the posts after the one I responded to. Even so, I cannot believe you would make a big deal out of these bufoons. It doesn't take a shrink to se that they want attention, and nothing gets attention like controversy. They're mthods are absolutely the same as terrorists, and if you change what you are doing as a response to what these people are doing, you're letting them win. It's as simple as that.
