Well, I just came back from seeing Narnia. It was excellent. Everything was. From the effects, to the characters, to the costumes. I loved it. everything was dazzling, and the characters were interesting too. None of them have had much acclaim in the US (except for peter, he looks familiar), and this movie totally boosts their career. This movie blows all of the other holiday season movies out of the water.

I have heard that it is great, but also from what I have heard King Kong is going to give it a run for it's money in the awesomeness department. No matter who comes out on top in this battle, the real winner is us.

(yes that was extremely corny, what are you gonna do about it?)

Yes. King Kong and Narnia are the two biggest movies right now. At first, I doubted that Jack Black could play such a role, so we'll have to see if he can prove us wrong.

I'm seeing it on Dec. 16. And King Kong sometime, soon. Could you post, I dunno, maybe a more in depth review?

He. Lets leave that to Ebert and Roeper....

One controversial thing about it is, I'm sure some of you have heard, that the part when Aslan (which is lion in Turkish) is sacrificed is an allusion to the crucifiction of Jesus. Aslan died for the sins of Edmund (who betrayed his siblings) and was then ressurrected. But then again, Lewis was very fanatical, so some of those critics need to shut up.

Oh, and the wolves reminded me of the Nazgul from Lord of the Rings.

How closely the movie follows the book?

From what I remember of the book, it follows it to the letter. (but then again, I did read it 3-4 years ago). And I saw a play on it a month ago.

Early reviews/previews on Munich is its horrible that Spielberg tries too hard not to offend anyone that he makes a fairly boring, disjointed movie...not good news had high hopes for it. Guess Ill have to be happy with Kong and Narina, as my sig indicates Im a huge CS Lewis fan (only person to almost make christianity plausible to me) so hope its good when I see it and Kong, well what is there to say it should be an absolute fantastic movie.

Aslan or Kong?(If they were the same size)

Aslan because he is actually intelligent, combine that with being as fast as a lion and deadly he'd wreck Kong if they were both the same size. Wierd comparison though

So a movie, based on a Christian book, has a Christian symbol. Some of the complainers need to shut up sometimes. If your offended by an act, which I can't see how anyone can, just don't watch it. I didn't protest Fahreinheit 9-11 nor will I protese Jesus Christ Superstar if it is ever put on in my area.
Really dont get all the rumbling about it, I mean it is a book heavy on Christian themes written by one of the most prolific Christian writers of his time so it shouldnt be of any suprise the movie would protray alot of that. Of course the irony is Narina is being compared to LoTR but more for the movie making process then the reality of the fact they were both written by Christians and both invoke Christian imagery. Though obviously Narina is far more 'in your face' about it and LOTR is alot more subtle.

Strangely, when i was reading Chronicles of Narnia, it didnt bother me, that it was so "In your face" Christian... and i actually started to feel it only in the last books.
and LOTR, i often was getting the feeling that sometimes the Dunadans were kinda jewish, and the elves of Middleearth too... silly i know

Yes, I recentley decided to ask a "lady friend" to go to King Kong with me. Originaly I considered Narnia.....for a few seconds.

I'll see LWW on my own, don't want them to see my geeky side.

The Best part about going to see Kong is that it's a romance disguised as an Action....so the girl won't know what hit her!!!

Narnia: Total War would be interesting.

Some enthusiastic killing in the last fifteen minutes, with ramshackle armies of a huge variety of creatures on either side, faithful to the book - it's a pretty interesting battle scene. Making up the Army of Aslan are centaurs with lances (and one dual-wielding greatswords the size of a man - Jesus), satyrs (called fauns), leopards, bears, eagles and a rhinocerous. Their opponents - the Army of the Queen of Narnia, the White Witch, are dwarvish warriors, minotaurs, wolves, ogres and giants. And there are absolutely no tactics of any kind - they just smack right into each other headlong and kill like crazy. Pity there's no gore, or it would have been REALLY interesting.

Aslan had griffins. They were kind of like the Eagles in LOTR. They dropped huge boulder from the sky. Oh, and there was one part when an archer fired a flaming arrow and it turned into a phoenix, which created a flaming barrier between the two armies. Though, the Queens polar bear-drawn chariot just burst through it.

Oh, and that main general centaur guy was awesome. I liked what they did when he was zapped.

OMFG, what's cooler then centaurs in armor?

What an awesome movie. But I swear I kept getting LOTR flashbacks. I mean come on, they even hide under a little incline while a horse passes near them and someone walks up... and some shots just screamed LOTR!!!

Also, I was just a little disappointed when I first heard Aslan's voice. I don't know what I expected... but it sure wasn't Qui Gon!
