Default Game crash on end turn.

I am getting a game crash when i end my turn everytime at the year 583 A.U.C.
I am playing a Roman campaign with the Barbarian Invasion exe.
I tried turning AUTOSAVE to false in the with the RS2 launcher, but it won't let me. I get this error statement : "Unable to open file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\The Creative Assembly\Rome-Total War\bi\preferences\preferences.txt." I went into my BI preference folder through my windows explorer and turned AUTOSAVE to false, but it still didn't turn it off.

The game was running very smoothly for me, so i don't understand why the game crash all of the sudden. I turned the script on everytime i loaded my campaign too. I tried saving my campaign and loading that one, but now i can't activate the script.
Before you ask, yes RS2 was installed over a clean version of RTW, and BI(latest versions.)
    Please help.

As it is said that Autosave is bugged, I suspect your crash has something to do with that. Now in order to turn it off, you have to go to a modfolder (like Play_Rome), and open the preferences folder. There is a preferences.txt there, which you will have to change so that the autosave is FALSE.

You may not have permissions to change the file in the location you've shown. We did suggest that the game was not installed in that folder as it's 'protected' by Windows.

What have you done with UAC?

As DUFFMAN has posted it's known that AUTOSAVE and Quicksave can corrupt games.

I went into the Play Rome preferences folder through my windows explorer and turned AUTOSAVE to false. My campaign still crashes everytime though. I guess that means i'll just have to start a new one again. I did turn those windows settings off that were blocking my access. Should i re-install the whole game in another folder?

I'd just start a new campaign and see what happens.

Now that i have AUTOSAVE turned off, i can't save my campaign at all. When i open the menu screen the save game and load game options are both a light grey color and i can't click on them. I just lost 30 years of my new campaign. How am i supposed to save my campaign?

When starting a campaign you must always make sure you can save, before doing anything.

Ok, so how do i save my campaigns now? I have gone into a few Roman campaigns to test it to see if i can save, but it won't let me. I think i have AUTOSAVE turned to false in my RTW preferences, as well as the Play Rome folder preferences. Could this be doing it?

Well I have never been unable to save myself, so I can't really say.. I can say however that I don't think autosave turned off is causing this.

Some people are experiencing problems with not being able to save games at all.

I did have one Pontus campaign that I could not save for some reason - the script was running and I don't think I had restarted the campaign without exiting the game properly.

Where did you install the game to and what have you done with UAC (I did ask the second part in post #3 which you appear to have missed or ignored)?

I am suddenly unable to save a new Rome campaign, myself. Its odd I had a game that was about 35 turns in and I wanted to try a different tactic so i tried starting a new campaign but can't save.

Did you exit out of the game completely and start the game again through the Launcher?

Yes I have, I worked around the problem by just using my save from the first turn of my previous Rome Campaign.
