well the problem is i installed it outside of the TW folder as suggested because i have windows 7. and when i run the Exe file the black window pops up for 3 seconds some messages pop up in there then it closes just as fast then i stand there waiting for the game which it doesn't

what did i do wrong and how do i fix this?
btw can i get a screen shot of the campaign map?

    thanks a lot

You need to reinstale DX ... just go to the Microsoft website or google it after that BC will work

It was suggested that one shouldn't install the game and the mod in Program Files. But one has to install Broken Crescent into M2TW directory, obviously.

i installed it on my desktop and still have the same problem and i also did install DX. anything else that i should do?

i get "MT2 has encountered a unidentified error"
i dragged my game folder from program files on the desktop and i installed BC also on the desktop then i dragged everything in the BC folder in to the MT2 folder on the desktop.
what am i doing wrong? its outside of program files and i run the BC exe file.

You shouldn't drag the folder, but when you install M2TW you choose the desktop or C:/Sega

tried it this morning and here is what i did:
    step 1 uninstall everything
step 2 install it in C/SEGA/MT2
step 3 install BC in C/SEGA/MT2
step 4 crack game(my steam game does not work for some reason)
step 5 use BC exe file and same problem "MT2 has encountered unidentified error)

    what could be the problem?

DVD for now. i don't want to deal with steam's modding complications.

In that case, install the game accordingly to instructions in that thread.

the problem is i DID this i did install it OUTSIDE of the program files and i did install BC into the MT2 and i am STILL getting this stupid "unidentified error"
the DVD MT2 was downloaded and cracked because i have no CDs now can you tell me what patch should the game be in and give me all the details because i don't see a good tutorial on how to install this like EB has for Rome TW.

EDIT: the steam way looks WAY more complicated and i don't want to make it any more complicated then this already is.

    Installation instructions are simple:

    • Install Medieval II Total War ver 1.0
    • Install Medieval II Total War patch 1.2
    • Install Medieval II Total War patch 1.3

    or

    • Install Medieval II Total War ver. 1.0 and Kingdoms expansion (that process will upgrade Medieval II to ver. 1.4 )
    • Optionally - upgrade that installation to ver. 1.5
    • Install Broken Crescent ver 2.02

All should be done outside Program Files. While installing of any program, you should use right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" - this will grant you all needed rights to dig about in directories.

    Installation must be absolutely clean.

    That's all, I can't help any further.
