Hello,

I am trying to get rolling a Seljuk campaign going, but I cant find the income to raise any armies or develop my cities, and by the time I do the Byzantines steamroll me.

On an early campaign, anyone have any key tips to get me going? The idea is to get secure enough to turtle it out till gunpowder.

What period, though I am assuming that it is early due to the Byzies steamrolling you.

Either beat, beat the living tar out of the Crusader States, they are a nuisance. Also, try allying with the byzies if yo need to buy time, that should give you at least a decade of peace before they backstab you.

Scorched earth tactics are nice, try just burning everything to the ground and exterminating, then giving these settlements to Venice or The Pope Or Sicily or the HRE or Hungary...

You also have much better range units, selection wise, and better light cavalry, so use that to your advantage and fight the romans on the field. As an avid Roman (Er, I mean Byzie) player, I know that their main weakness is that in Early Period their archers just suck. Even in full swing they never have enough, though their heavy infantry will pummel you senselessly. So play to your strength, and beat them ten kinds of stupid with arrows. This can turn even defeats into a major cripple for the Byzie winner.

Also, be more pro and suck less. I hear that makes the game easier. Just envision yourself as the commander of a thousand exploding hamster armies, that should inspire you to greatness.

Ok, I will try again. I cant see my spear militia and archers defeating the crusaders anytime soon though. Its an early campaign using Bgr mod.

I will try and be more pro, but the green is slighty distracting.

If it's too hard, don't use BGR

Yeah, even England on H/H for me proved too complex, while i own any @$$ on H/H without BGR, with Lithuanians or Byzzies

They say that SS on VH is considered easy, so you might want to try BGR on easy or medium, with hard battles
