    FAQ
So, what will eidgesonn... eidnossge... uh ... this mod be about?
This mod will be for Kingdoms and will be set in Medieval Middle Europe, the main focus will be on the Old Swiss Confederation.

    ****What was that?
****It was a confederation of small states in central Alpes, which grew larger and larger, until it represented pretty much what we today call Switzerland.

    ****What does "eidgenossenschaft" mean?
****It's swiss and german expression for "confederation." Literal translation of word is "sworn brotherhood." Original name for Swiss confederation was infact Das Eidgenossenschaft.

****So, confederation will be only one faction or what?
****No, confederation will be an alliance, build from various states, from which you may choose. Only three of them will start in confederation alone, other will be "sucked in" later.

****That reminds me of Roman factions in Rome: Total War.
****But it will not be the same, there will be no political struggles and conspiracies behind the game. Just open, unvieled impossible-to-break alliance (but only impossible-to-break 'till reformation...).

****Wait... So, if only three factions will be in confederation in beginning, what's going to be with the rest of cantons?
****If you will play as Unterwald, Uri or Schwyz, you will be in confederation from very beginning. Joining other factions into the eidgenossenschaft will be going according to history: maybe (but not very likely) it will evenbe possible to join them in trough conquest and diplomacy.

****And what if I play as non-confederate faction?
****At the historical date, you will be sent a proposal to join confederation (you may join them earlier trough diplomacy or by being military defeated by one of the confederates). If you refuse, relations with confederation will detoriate and you will likely get forced into the eidgenossenschaft.

****What's the difference betwen "rural" and "city" cantons?
****They have different buildings and different units, infact, different cultures will be used for them (swiss_rural nad swiss_city).

****How's with the time setting of the game?
****Game begins in 1291 and ends in 1656. 4 seasons per year.

****Isn't map a little bit decentralized, since almost half of it is occupied by some irrelevant Holy Roman Empire duchies?**
****The main focus, is, off course, the Swiss Confederation, but what's the only thing that can be better in a mod than a bunch of small states? Two bunches of small states! The concept of the Holy Roman Empire will be a little bit different, off course - the duchies will start as allies. The AI will not attack other HRE states, however, the player that chooses one of them may and cause the whole empire to divide.

I think I know enough about gameplay. Let's move to real world.
    OK.

****Will you be hiring a team?
****Good question. The mod is in so early stages currently, that I even don't bother thinking about team. I will post hiring proposal if necessary; I will probably need a small team or at least some councillors.

****Do you have any signatures for the mod?
****Hm, I have one roughly designed over here, since you ask:

    ****

Very nice! I'm sure even the research alone would be quite helpful to other mods as well, like Tzardoms (since they're including the OSC too).
    Good luck!

Yeah, I'll be glad to be of service, if I copy Gigantus. Off course, they won't be able to do all those small cantons, right? I first thought to do one faction alone, but I realized that game with one that big faction on such a small map would not be half as fun; my mod is however centralized, so even if I don't know Tzardoms well, I think they'll just do one faction.

this looks like it will be really cool.
will the confederation have the possibility of becoming one faction like the Kalmar Union in Teutonic?

After a long year after I lost hope that I will ever finish any mod for Total War, I'm back. Still stubborn like a bull. After gaining some xp in Civilization IV modding, I'll try to set up basics of Eidgenossenschaft: Total War in itsy bitsy steps. I'll try my best, but I still can't promise you guys anything, and it hurts me to see so many interested in mod that is in hands of someone as inexperienced as me ... But I'm quite enthusiastic, as allways. Well, back to work. I have to reinstall the game and start scripting.

This mod would be fantastic. I live in Italy, but I'm Swiss from the Canton of Thurgau and I always dreamt of a Total War focused on my Heimat.

I am terribly sorry, but I cannot include Canton Thurgau into the game, as it came into existence in 18th century.

Hi ModderN00b, don't worry, I know that the canton of Thurgau was born much later, so I don't expect a mod with my beloved Thurgau. I like, however, a Total War set in Switzerland, because the Switzerland even without the Canton Thurgau is always my homeland. I've also seen that in the mod there will also be Florence and I live in Florence. So I can play both my dear Switzerland that my equally dear Florence
BTW, any news about the progress of the mod?
    Ciao

I wouldn't call this mod dead, but I may call it seriously inactive because I simply have so many other things to do (school, music school, studying, homework, writing, Skyrim etc.). Maybe during holidays or in the summer. I seriously feel like for not making much progress with a mod so many people want to play and I'm terribly sorry. You guys'll have to be patient for now. Like, seriously patient. Super patient.
