    Default More Permanent Watchtowers please!

    I have noticed on non catholic campaigns, that the watch towers (or lack of) in most provinces do not give sight to the entire region, any reason why? If not, and someone could give me a quick tutorial, I could possibly edit it so all the regions (and I mean globally game wise) are visible when owned by player's faction.

    The watch towers "view of infuence" is for cities, farmland, most roads, and mines/valuable resources. The deep wilderness of a region will be dark (for some yummy brigandiers to show up) and mountainous regiond will be dark aswell, since looking into the side of a mountain doesnt show the other side of the mountain. You can place watchtowers manually, which might take a while, but its worth it.

    Are you playing with Permenant Watchtowers on or off?
    Maybe some rebels have captured a watchtower. They like taking those.

    Place your mouse over a place where you want to see a watchtower, open console and type show_cursorstat

    Write down the numbers, then open SS6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_strat.txt

    Go to the bottom where all the other watchtowers are and add yours. I don't know if the region is needed or not.
    Delete map.rwm in \maps\base folder to get it to show up.

    You need to check to see if it's in the right spot, so do 1 or 2 at a time and look at the game before adding more.

    Using permanent watchtowers on with 6.3, I've not had any problem seeing my own regions. And I actually like that there are no permanent watchtowers that let me see into my neighbors' regions (as I think that makes things too easy). However, I do like to put watchtowers on my borders eventually, and I think it is too hard to do them with a family member, especially because I like to play small factions that can't afford to send generals away on years-long missions making watchtowers.

    So...the question is, is there any way to make it so that spies, or assassins, or diplomats, or even captains can make watchtowers? I have a feeling the answer is no, but I figured I'd ask anyway. If non-family member generals can make watchtowers, perhaps a unit could be created that is technically a general (and there, presumably able to make watchtowers), but has some kind of nerfing traits/ancillaries that makes them unable to have an army? Or perhaps just makes them useless? Maybe it's not worth screwing up the generals-to-cities ratio, which is always a huge problem with my small factions like Portugal, Aragon, etc.

    You could try opening descr_characters.txt and adding building_watchtower to the actions line, but I don't know if it will work.

    maybe I didn't word it properly, I have watchtowers in all of the regions, just some (big ones) does not show the entire region, will still be towers in em tho, so I will do what newt said and just will be fine with that

    You can merely spam watchtowers, The Teutonic order in RR/RC has an average of 4 watchtowers per large region I think.

    This way even the big regions are light up all the way, using Newt's suggestion.

    Actually, if you do it to ss6.3\data\campaign\sub\watchtowers late or early, your changes will stay if you run setup. Otherwise it will overwrite your changes.

    I'll do what newt says instead of just planting them all with generals, otherwise I will be doing it over and over again every new campaign and I'd much rather not do add_money everytime
