How do I enable error messages again?

Quick question: how was it that you could have the game report what went wrong if the game crashed, again? You would write something in the "Properties"-section in the game icon, and next time the game crashed, a small window would pop up and tell you where the problem lies. Especially useful when installing skins manually and such. I can't beleive the makers of the game couldn't summon up the mental capacity to have this enabled by default...
