ok, i recently patched to v1.3, and for some reason, i had banners off, but they r back on, and when i go to the preferences txt file, they still say false after them, what do i do?

1.3 has a lot of problems with things like that, including the arrows beneath soldiers feet (I think), and also shadows, which causes slowdown for a lot of people.

Nah the shadows don't cause that much of a slowdown, it's mostly the grass to blame.

Advanced shadows give me trouble...I figured the new-ish lighting of BI was the cause of some of people's slowdown.

When I first played it I had some serious lag. But when I turned off the grass everything became smooth again.

@Slimshoom: Sorry but I don't have a solution. Like eXc said, the 1.3 patch introduces many annoying little bugs like these.

Try and make a new preferences.txt with copy paste in which you re write the lines you want to modify...
