Piety in BC(For Generals): Whats the point?

Just as the title, in BC piety doesn't seem to help, is it just for roleplaying purposes? This makes traits and anchillaries like hajj and al-quran seem rubbish and useless. Is there a good use for piety?

it gives you extra income in governed settlements. Piety changes the "Administrator" income.
Piety is basically the Management from RTW.

Useful info, most of the things are from vanilla, except the part with the modified growth bonus in BC which is reasonable, or you'll get huge cities in less than 20 turns.
