Icon4 Is it a bug? Still recruiting while besieged!

As Byzantium every time when I besieged a Turkish town, they got 6 more units (2 Frontiersmen missile infantry + 2 Tirpan Azaps light infantry + 2 Turkoman Tribal Cavalry) each turn in the besieged town! Is it a bug or a feature? It's so insane I had to quit playing BC if this cannot be fixed...

Garrison script is added to BC 2.02 by default.

When you besiege Kayseri, Sivas or Ankara (those are Turkish towns when campaign starts), AI gets reinforcements via script.

That's one of the features, not a bug.

I do not like this feature at all... it is very unrealistic and makes some blitz impossible... it is just unfair i think.

Exactly, making blitzing impossible. And it isn't "unfair" - unfair is playing versus the AI using your human brain

How can this be realistic and fair? I think you should at least reduce the reinforcement to a smaller size, say 2 or 3 units per turn. Or put an upper limit to it, say up to 6 or 8 units. 6 units per turn is just too much and insane.

In fact I think the Empire way is better. Some militia units are automatically spawned when besieged, and disbanded when the siege is lifted.

To say it's insane is an exaggeration.

If you think garrison script is unfair - delete it from campaign_script.txt, or modify it. It's not hard at all. Just change the value of "num 2" to "num 1", etc. All changes to that file are not save game compatible, so you need to start new campaign.

I can't promise we will improve that script for BC 2.02, because we are busy with developing 3.0; maybe someone will decide to make a submod.

the reinforcements they recieve are light infantry/tirpan azaps, you should have no problem dealing with them

It's not--or shouldn't be (PM me your script-log if it is)--6 units per turn; it's just a one-time-per-siege bonus of 4-8 units. And it doesn't make blitzing impossible; if you've brought siege equipment you can just take the city by storm, in a "realistic" manner. The human's innate advantages over the AI are so great that even 6 units means almost nothing, especially when siege weapons circumvent that easily. Just try to run a more stable campaign next time.

Try flooding the city/castle with spies and there's a good chance they'll open the gates and you can attack right away.
