This is my favorite total war game and it will not install I bought a new copy and it wont run it keeps saying error or something it gets me realy depressed. Please help me.

Well I would If I could butt it wont intall at all right now and normaly it says ERROR!! Something abouth english I think it gets stuck on data pack 1 too

Where did you buy the game? Is it a store-bought copy - do you have the physical discs? Or did you buy a digital download?

If you could provide the actual error code it would help a lot. It helps us to dial down on your problem.

If you own the physical discs and are getting stuck on data1.cab then it may be related to your optical drive. How old is that drive?

Additionally could you add your DxDiag log? Here's how:

DxDiag is easy to run if you have any knowledge of Windows. Go to the "Start" button and in that menu choose "Run Program" option ("Run..." in Vista IIRC). In the pop-up field type "dxdiag" and press enter. This is the DirectX test program - let it finish the test. After the test is finished choose the button toward the bottom labeled "Save All Information..." and save it to your desktop. Next open up this forum and post the results by copying and pasting directly to the forum. Please don't post attachments as they take up more space and time - just copy and paste. Please post ALL info and if you can please wrap it in a spoiler tag to minimize page size.

Lastly I'll ask a Mod to move this to the Tech Help Forum - you'll get better answers there.
