    Default How to recruit generals (and how to recruit them faster)

    I edited the EDB to add recruitable generals to the townhall line. But they're not showing up in game, and I can't figure out why.

    the replenishment rate 0.000001 will prevent them ever becoming available to recruit there.

    The higher the number, the faster the replenishment. In this case you get a 40% 'unit refill' every round.
    So 0.000001 -> 1000000 turns.

    I copied that from another Knight unit in the edb. But I havn't even started balancing it yet because they don't show up. They don't even show up in the Building browser. That is what I don't understand.

    0.000001 0.1
    bane_tw pointed out what's wrong with the first number.

    For the second, 0.1 is the max # of units available. Change it to 1 or higher

    Changing that second number to 1 fixed it, which brings up the point of is everyone sure that there arn't units that are bugged in the regular game since I took that whole thing from a chivaric knight or something.

    In vanilla it has two entries, the one you copied, and the regular entry which allows recruitment. I don't know why it has the first one, and this is the second mod I've seen it in.

    Basicly just change the numbers for the general to

    recruit_pool "whatevergeneralunitidis" 1 1 1 1 requires factions {....

    And keep in mind that you haven't given the first level of the town hall
    any generals to recruit - so check if you aren't testing against the wrong building.

    Once you got it to work and understand how it works you can finetune the numbers.

    Oh and thanks for the help guys, yeah I've definately gotta tweek that second number, but my intention was do so after adding it and seeing how long it took to respawn.

    Lets take a example:-
    recruit_pool "Knights Templar" 1 0.5 4 1 requires factions { england, scotland, france, denmark, milan,}
    Now there are 4 numbers in the above line:-

    • the number "1" in blue tells the number of units available to us from the start.
    • the number "0.5" in red is the rate of replenishment after which it will be available again.
    • the number "4" in green is the no. of max units available or recruitable.
    • the number "1" in orange represents the starting experience of the unit the limit is 9(3 sets of bronze, silver and gold chevrons).

    Same here. I don't want to adopt anyone in the family, unless through marriage. I have many princesses and I'd like them to marry Generals trained by myself and make sure they're well skilled. But it takes forever to recruit one.

    You have to modify the refill rate of the bodyguard unit in the EDB.

    Like there is a entry for one unit:-

    recruit_pool "Italian Militia"  1   0.2   2  0  requires factions { milan, venice, papal_states, sicily, }
    And you want the changes only for Sicily then:-

    Now u can fiddle with the red part and when u are playing as sicily.....
