    Default No stakes for Bombard and Grand Bombard

    Hi, in the unit description, bombard and grand bombard both say they have stakes. However, when I'm in the battle, I never see a stakes button (before and during) the battle.

    For any issue, you should at least say which version of the mod you are talking about. Currently there are 4 major ones in circulation. I'd say the description is outdated, as I never had stakes on a bombard.

    Check if it's a double option like a Trebuchet has(flame and Cow Carcass..).

    thanks for reminding me on the Cow Carcass...I have been playing the game practically everyday since May and I keep forgetting to try out the unusual Cow Carcass feature.... I think I built trebuchet's once....I wonder how the graphics are on it...

    I only tried it once. And all it did was inaccurately shooting dead cows everwhere but my target and got my own sick instead of the enemy. I never ever used it again

    Ok about the problem the OP posted the answer is quite simple the fact is Bombard doesn't have the ability to use stakes and my mistake it must show that it can use it from the text entry in the export_units.txt.
    So check both EDU and export_units.txt.
    In the EDU the bombard must have the:-
    Code:
    , stakes, stakes
    attribute in it.
    And if it has it and still doesn't work it's because the weapon might be using some other thing to fill that UI slot like flame fire etc so remove that attrib to make it work.

    No bro believe me it's a useful feature.
    It reduces the combat effectiveness(stamina) and morale of the enemy units.
    And it should be used in a battle where the enemy is defending not on a head on field battle otherwise your units are also in jeopardy coz we know how much trebuchets are accurate.

    Post the EDU and export_units.txt files plz.
    Zip them and upload them.

    Comments on the historical accuracy anyone? Would the bombard, ribaults, rocket launchers, etc. have used stakes?

    I can't really comment on the historical accuracy but for me it doesn't feel plausible for a 20/30 men team thats charged with moving and setting up heavy equipment like a monster bombard to also place stakes in front of it in their 5 min tea breaks.

    Yep like i said we have to remove an ability coz of UI button limitation.

    The problem is that you need exploding or flaming ammo to enable grapeshot.
    So if you want grapeshot, no stakes for you.
