Hi, in the unit description, bombard and grand bombard both say they have stakes. However, when I'm in the battle, I never see a stakes button (before and during) the battle.

For any issue, you should at least say which version of the mod you are talking about. Currently there are 4 major ones in circulation. I'd say the description is outdated, as I never had stakes on a bombard.
Check if it's a double option like a Trebuchet has(flame and Cow Carcass..).
I'm on SS 6.3.
Ok about the problem the OP posted the answer is quite simple the fact is Bombard doesn't have the ability to use stakes and my mistake it must show that it can use it from the text entry in the export_units.txt.
So check both EDU and export_units.txt.
In the EDU the bombard must have the:-
attribute in it.Code:, stakes, stakes
And if it has it and still doesn't work it's because the weapon might be using some other thing to fill that UI slot like flame fire etc so remove that attrib to make it work.
No bro believe me it's a useful feature.
It reduces the combat effectiveness(stamina) and morale of the enemy units.
And it should be used in a battle where the enemy is defending not on a head on field battle otherwise your units are also in jeopardy coz we know how much trebuchets are accurate.![]()

Comments on the historical accuracy anyone? Would the bombard, ribaults, rocket launchers, etc. have used stakes?

So if you want grapeshot, no stakes for you.The problem is that you need exploding or flaming ammo to enable grapeshot.
