    Default My Own CTD Mystery...

    Well I'm not sure that this is a 'bug' I should be posting in the DLV6.2 Bug thread, since it does have a couple small submods in it. But I'm also having trouble seeing if those submods are even involved.

    I have a decent instal of DLV6.2 right up to the hilt. I also glommed onto it Xenophonia2 and GeD's 4tpy code (I tried for BB but it was conflicting too much to bother).

    I've been experiencing a nice game just like I wanted it, right up until 1184> during AI phase> Dessert Tribes> then BLAM, CTD to the desktop.

    Your Problem most likely is: missing data/ui/unit_info/hedjaz/Yemani_Javelinmen_info.tga i.e the info.tga is missing for Yemani javelinmen

    I'm missing file data/ui/unit_info/hedjaz ENTIRELY. To the best of my knowlege, hedjaz folder is not supposed to be present in 6.2, so is this a bad reference writtin in where it shouldn't? I'm guessing that, but had not expected Xenophonia to overwrite anything referencing for tga's etc., but then if it is a string that also references associated sound files, then that'd make sense.
    I just want to head off any more CTDs relating to this. If there is such a file overwritten by X2 incompatably with DLV6.2, I aught to look into it and correct the differences.
    I don't know much, but this feels pretty fundamental; any ideas?

    I have no idea why I am assisting you when you should be quite capable of dealing with the issue yourself, if you are as good as you claim in your first post.

    Still if you had bothered to look up the battle_models.db entry for Yemeni javelin men, you might have noticed that that the corresponding .mesh files are absent for the hedjaz. Which means that in all probability you are trying to fight a battle with the hedjaz , in which the opposing army has the offending unit. Try auto resolving.

    Also the log by itself is incomplete, use the following format and re-submit

    CTD ISSUES

    Use the following template to report CTD issue only. Answer all questions. Put “N/A” in place which doesn’t apply.
    Name of your issue (Don't be creative - be specific!)
    Is CTD repeatable? (Try to run the saved game, several times to try to repeat the issue)
    Did CTD occur during the a) year turn b) Strategy map activates c) Battle map activates d) can't start the game
    What is you operating system
    What language version of the game do you have?
    What year are you playing when CTD occurred?
    What faction do you play?
    What faction is creating the CTD (if known, leave speculations to your comments)
    Briefly describe the issue and add comments. (Be specific and detailed!):
    Provide link to your log file after the issue has happened. How to extract log file:
    Provide Screenshot if applicable

    ps. xenophonia ver 2 onwards has a history of incompatibility with DLV.

    I'm good at some thing and not others. As I indicated, I prefer to stick with graphics. It is my speciality in RL (and I really should get back to it right this moment). I'm always happy to have friends with the skills to find in 2 seconds what would take me 2 hours to see. And they are consistently happy to have me design for them things that they never could, and which help to make them wealthy. We're all in this together.

    I considered that the error log report format you're suggesting was really just for the 6.2 Bug Report thread itself.
    But it cant hurt to put it here I suppose.

    Faction that is creating the CTD, Dessert Tribes?

    Like clockwork the CTD occurs at the start of the Dessert Tribe phase of the year turn.
    Also note that Dessert Tribe faction is not visible on the strat map at this turn.

    Adressing your suggestion, battle_models.db is only found in the unit_models folder as battle_models.modeldb and Kopie von battle_models.modeldb. I'm sure you're right but I'm not familliar with battle_models.db and my file search doesn't turn it up.

    At this point I'm just trying to isolate: Is it clearly evident that Xenophonia is the cause? And if so, which files did it modify to cause this error?

    If possible I'd prefer to be told which files these would be so I may make comparisons and perhaps clean out any simmilar conflicts.

    i have the 6.0 + 6.2 and BB 2.7 with update 50 part 2 installed..if ur game version is like mine upload a save game and i will see if i can help to pass this CTD..since my game is stable and haven`t crashed before..if i passed this i will upload a saved game after ending this turn..

    Hey, thanks Palatanae, that's awesome of you. But unfortunately I'm not using Taiji's BB. Just the Xenophonia2 (did you include Xenophonia2?). That's part of what makes my CTD such a mystery. And besides, I'd just run right up against such a big problem again anyway. Best to try to stabalize my mod.

    Lemme tell ya, when Xenophonia is working it sure is fun. I don't want to go back to lame accents if I can help it.

    Anyway, I've been doing some digging and rebuilding before bedtime and having a harder & harder time seeing Xenophonia as the cause. Maybe I saved the wrong build at some point when I had multiple versions. So I'm restarting.

    First the xenophonia issue: I personally don't use xenophonia 2.0 myself since even a cursory glance at the DLV forums revels that ver 2.0 (i.e the self executable version ) is incompatible with DLV.

    However the older 1.1 zip version ( Xenophonia )apparently is a lot more compatible- so you could try a shot at that perhaps ?

    Secondly, yes I meant battle_models.modeldb, open it with notepad (back it up first). IT contains a list of the skeletons and associated textures of all the units in the EDU. In the entry for Yemani Javelinmen the texture entry for Hedjaz is missing. If what I have just explained is a bit too technical look up the creating a new unit tutorial, on second thought look it up anyway it will aid you in the future.

    I saw what you mean. But Taiji's old thread on implementing X2 for DLV 6.1 had me thinking, got me to tweaking, and so far it's holding up quite nicely. I'm going over my previous notes (I record all of my mods and the order they are applied) and I'm less and less inclined to believe that particulat CTD had anything to do with X2 now. I think I accidentally swapped builds during my procedure because nothing I listed touched those files you refer to. If my build is doing something that others builds aren't, it either means human error, rare hardware failure during a copy, or an unlikely fluke found in the game. The 'what' wasn't as important to me as the 'how'.
    But I have mapmaking to get back to for a new mod and didn't want to spend too much of my hobby-time fishing for this mystery on my own. Thanks again for the help.
