Default Daily Show/Bill O'Rielly Fight Over "War on Christmas"

For those of you who did not catch the Daily Show last night, Bill O'Rielly has apparently marked Jon Stewart and the Daily Show cast as leaders in the so-called "War Against Christmas."

I'll leave the video of it to explain what happened:

    www.comedycentral.com
Scroll down the page and click on the video entitled "Secular Central." Get ready to see why Bill O'Rielly is a prick and why the Daily Show is so funny.

Congratulations to Jon Stewart for making that guy appear as the total jackass he is (in case you can't see it for yourself).

Use this thread to debate the so-called "War on Christmas" as well, if you wish.

Yeah I saw that last night, pretty hilarious actually. Bill O'Rielly is such an ass most of the time. Although he can be funny too, I'm just not sure when he is serious and when he is joking. It's always funny to see O'Reilly and Moore, or O'Reilly and Al Frankin get into debates, because the winner is always like who is the biggest a-hole.

I'm getting pretty sick about all those "OMG they are banning christmas" stories flowing out of the 51 states of America.
It's good to see somebody does something back to those who spread this nonsense.

I think the title in and of itself is retarded. There is no "war," it's a few people who are apparently upset by the prevalence of Christmas in American culture, so they whine about it. People should just learn not to listen to them...it's not as if they present a real threat to the Christmas holiday. In fact, if you ask me, the anti-"war on Christmas" pundits have become MORE retarded than the original people disliking Christmas, because they've blown it way out of proportion.

And Bill O'Rielly blames the ****ing Daily Show...they are a FAKE news show that does political satire. Everything on that show is a joke, I cannot believe he would be dumb enough to take anything they say there seriously.

He's probably blaming the Daily Show because there are quite a few idiots who watch it and take it as an actual news organization that spices up the news with humor. I know this for a fact because right now I'm at college and quite a few people here think it substitutes for a newspaper or CNN, etc. I like Jon Stewart, think he's a funny guy, but when you ask someone where they got their information from and they say "The Daily Show," sorry, but they're morons. And yes, there are plenty of situations of "banning Christmas" still going around. Last year my town couldn't put a manger out in front of the town christmas tree because some atheist organization sued with help from a civil liberties law firm.

Yes some people think the Daily show is real news. But a poll taken last year found that those who watch the daily show were more informed about actual current events than those who watch fox news. Thus a fake news show has a more intelligent audience than a 24/7 news channel. Also most of the people who watch it are college students who in the next several decades will probably be the leaders of our nation.

Also, no one wants to ban christmas. While some athiests want a blanket separation, and mangers are universially not allowed on govt property, much of this dispute is between christians who have different views of how chirstmas should be scelebrated. Like the clip showed, some of the staunchest opponents of christmas are those super-religious christions who feel its being diluted religiously and over commercialized. I am Jewish myself and dont mind saying merry christmas, but would be offended if I was forced to have a manger scene at my public school.

I'm more inclined to think this is O'Rielly grasping at straws because the last time he was on the Daily Show, he was nearly booed off. He strikes me as being the petty, childish sort that likes to boycott things they don't like or fight back subversively against those they feel offend them. He fits the description.

As for this Christmas mumbo-jumbo, I don't see why anyone is up in arms about this. The problem in miniscule compared to others facing this country. So freaking what if a few towns are dumb enough to let a few atheist or Jewish or Muslim or whatever families gripe them out of a public Christmas display. It's their own stupidity that's the problem, as long as the display isn't on government property they can display anything they want, be it the birth of Christ or Osama being taken in the ass by a goat. Well, maybe not the latter, but you get my drift.

That pretty much hit the nail on the head for me. People who watch comedy news shows like John Stewart and Bill Maher are usually A) Smart people. You have to be reasonably smart and reasonable aware of what is going on in politics and the world to understand most of these jokes. And B) you have to usually be anti-Bush...because most people who are in the audience at such shows are. Everyone knows that John Stewart does fake news....although not really, right? He comments on real events and he puts his own spin/opinion on it via a joke. Thats not REALLY fake news right? He doesnt make up stories, he just makes up the jokes that go along with the joke that is our media, our government and our society

As for christmas....well I really don't care about christmas, but I can say that it really does seem like Americans have made what was supposed to be a 2 day holiday at most (Christmas eve, then Christmas morning right?) and stretched it to encompass more than a month. I don't blame the christians, I blame all the companies who take advantage of christmas each year and market their products with annoyingly christmas-y themes. Its just a good lesson for brighteyed youths like me...everything you see on T.V. has a bias, has a purpose and has stuff to sell you.

edit-anyway, people who watch The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Bill Maher's Show are actually quite likely to also watch CNN, BBC, or MSNBC (not FOX) also. If only a little everyday, to see what the media has made the big story today and wonder about how Stephen, John and Bill are going to make fun of it.

I would be willing to bet that watching one episode of the daily show or bill maher will make you smarter than watching 24 hours of the faux channel.

Now that Bush's ratings are dropping they must be sending more reporters to aruba.

The real news causes even more distortion when they pretend there are 2 sides to a story when there is only 1.(1 logical one, anyways)

Indeed, I'm just glad the word "christmas" is finally being banned...so long have I been oppressed by it. We should also remove the greeting phrase: "Hi". Using a word that orginate from "heil" is pure evil, and we must cut all bonds with our oppressing past.

If you haven't done so already, check out "The Colbert Report" clip that talks about the same issue. That's pretty funny too.
