what do you think is the most recognizable tune?

i personally think that the theme from star wars is close if not the most recognizable tune. Also the Star Trek theme is pretty widely known

Depends on how you were raised/culture. I've never seen Star Wars or Star Trek, though I know they are famous. For me the most recognizable tunes consist of old French songs, and famous classical pieces...

    Star Wars theme, hands down.
Hell, Star Trek has at least three or four different themes. None of which are as recognisable the world over as the Star Wars theme.

That song used to be decent until The Sopranos had it for its theme song and then EVERYONE knew it and "liked" it.

Those who mentioned Beethoven's 5th are correct, in my opinion.

I don't get how the frequency of a song playing diminishes its quality, though I do understand how you could get sick of it pretty quickly.
