Default Help With Changing Generals Models

I'm trying to change the Middle Eastern Generals battle models from SS with ones from BC and I am not sure on how to go about doing this. I believe I would need to add the BC general entries in the EDU and add the entries in the battlemodelsdb and also add the new generals to descer strat.

However when I do this I get a crash to desktop as soon as the loading screen appears. The entries in the battlemodelsdb are correct. The last lines of the error log say: "missing stainless steele\preferences\player.txt" it is all it says.

I have no idea what it that means. Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

You Don't have to do any text editing for it IMO.
Just open the BMDB file and check a general entry and then simply rename BC general files to the same name that SS uses and overwrite them to their respective paths as per mentioned in BMDB. And Voila done.

As ishan said it would be much easier to look up the existing generals in battle_models.

Rename the new models/textures to the same as the ones you want to replace and overwrite the originals, this requires no text editting.

Ok thanks guys will give this a try when I get home.

But im not really sure if that will work cause the Middle Eastern generals all have the same mesh files just use different textures. There is an exmaple below of the ME generals entry in the SS modelsdb file:

    12 me_bodyguard
    1 3
    66 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/me_bodyguard_lod0.mesh 121
    66 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/me_bodyguard_lod1.mesh 1225
    66 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/me_bodyguard_lod2.mesh 6400
    6
    4 merc
    85 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/textures/mtw2_me_light_mail_mercs.texture
    86 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/textures/mtw2_me_light_mail_normal.texture
    42 unit_sprites/egypt_ME_Bodyguard_sprite.spr
    5 slave
    86 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/textures/mtw2_me_light_mail_rebels.texture
    86 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/textures/mtw2_me_light_mail_normal.texture

    88 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/textures/mtw2_ME_light_mail_kwarezm2.texture
    87 unit_models/_Units/ME_Light_Mail_Heavy_Mail/textures/mtw2_ME_light_mail_normal3.texture
    42 unit_sprites/egypt_ME_Bodyguard_sprite.spr
