So as the reich I have all of Italy in my possession besides rome and have sicily in the bag. I want to Invade Malta but I notice there are so many rebel armies on the island that i cant even land one army on it. any one got any idea how i can get around this besides leaving malta alone.

hmmm, I don't know of any tricks you can use to thin them out or get them to consolidate. Maybe try and see if you can get an agent to infiltrate one of the armies directly from a boat. Not sure if that will help you in anyway, but its better than doing nothing. Especially if you get the spy infected with a plague, then infect the army, reduce their numbers and maybe get them to join together; but that's a real long shot, and would require HUGE losses on their part.

Obviously you could cheat and move one of the armies via console command, but thats an absolute last resort; even then, you'd need to go and take care of that moved army too, just to satisfy the universe haha. Best of luck.

Take a cannon or two catapults with a full army. Land and attack the settlement without waiting to seige. Rip your way into the settlement and cut the rebels into pigfood. Have a second army on the mainland coming right in to replenish your troops - taking shattered units off the island leaving a full garrison. Then allow the rebels to try and take the settlement - and/or - bring in more troops and use the second army in unison with your main fighting group to mop up the full rebel stacks.

What i did was wear them down little by little by attacking and retreating back to the ships then land at palermo to retrain then go back out. got a general that could do night attacks so i literally destroyed seven armies with one and it only cost me a few thousand florins. a jihad was called on me a few turns later though. sigh... one more thing, I love seeing dismounted Gothic knights and dismounted Ghulams going at it.

Awesome, excellent perserverence there Red Guard. I guess you were able to land an army after all, and you managed to fend off the hordes long enough to wear them down. Those are the kind of unique problems and tough solutions that make me love this game. Good luck with the jihadis!

Yeah, reminds me of last England game trying to pin down Irish and Scots at same time. Game ground down to near stalemate with neither side able to advance. I was trying to create that 'spare' army stack with cannon to land off the sea and strike their isolated settlements - but never had enough money!

i think the sea invasion of Malta would have been a lot easier if I had had the landing craft the normans had in robin hood by Ridley scott lol.
