This small mod increases the length of battles and makes them far more realistic. The vanilla accuracy was way too high resulting in too many casualties in a very short time. Muskets were not accurate in the early 19th century so the accuracy stats have been reduced to realistic levels. This applies evenly to all units so as not to affect the balance of the game. Units have more ammo to allow for longer fire fights. Artillery accuracy has also been reduced slightly but is still very effective. I have removed grenades from grenadiers as it is historically incorrect for the time period. The old guards morale has been increased by +2 and is now 15 they have also been given 220 men in their unit.
I have not added Fire by rank as it is not historically correct for this period. A good enough reason but it also has the drawback that all your men need to be inline before the unit starts to fire. Yet another reason is that the rate of casualties is way too high with fire by rank resulting in arcade type battles something I wanted to avoid.
It is my feeling that huge unit sizes are not appropriate for the size of the maps I do however believe that the vanilla unit sizes were too small so I have increased them by 25% to the following sizes on Ultra.
Line infantry - 200
Grenadiers - 150
Light Infantry -150
Skirmishers – 100
Cavalry – 75
Dragoons – 100
I have not tested with other mods but I have it working perfectly with the “Khartoum” mod including the Zulu add on.
